Joliebox, a new Paris based Birchbox-clone, has just closed its first round of financing. Alven Capital and some other angel investors invested 1 million Euro in the young startup which (like Birchbox) offers a subscription model for monthly sent beauty samples.
Joliebox was founded earlier this year and has already established strong partnerships with 40 big brands, including Caudalie, Lancôme, Laura Mercier, L’Occitane, Bourjois and Kiehl’s. In just a few months Joliebox has generated more than 10,000 subscribers. This first round of funding will probably be used to expand the Joliebox brand into ohter European countries soon.
Aside of Joliebox there are already a few more European players who copied the Birchbox-model. In Germany (for example) these are GlossyBox (backed by the Samwer brothers), Kosmetik.de and Box of Beauty (Douglas).
