busuu.com launches Android apps for 9 languages

Since their launch, the iPhone apps of busuu.com, which is a Madrid based language learning community, have been downloaded more than 2 million times. As the startup announced today, busuu.com apps are now also available for Android phones.

The young company has just launched 9 new Android apps for devices like Samsung, HTC, Google Phone, Motorola and LG. These free apps enable you to learn Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Polish and English in an easy way.

Like busuu’s iPhone apps, each Android app has extensive vocabulary – over 3,000 words and key phrases, beginner and advanced intermediate levels (A1 – B2) and includes the audiovisual learning content of busuu.com (consisting of pictures and sounds). The apps of bussu.com can be used even without an Internet connection.

busuu.com was founded in 2008 by Bernhard Niesner and Adrian Hilti. In addition to the existing funding, busuu.com has raised an Angel round from Martin Varsavsky (founder of FON) three months ago. Find out more about the Madrid based startup and read through the interview we did with Bernhard Niesner (co-founder and CEO of Busuu) by the end of 2010.
