Since their launch, busuu’s iPhone apps have been downloaded more than 2 million times. Now, as the startup announced today, Android users will also be able to download and use their nifty app to learn languages.
The fresh announcement detailed that the Madrid-based language learning community has just launched 9 new Android apps for download on devices like Samsung, HTC, Google Phone, Motorola and LG. These free apps enable users to learn Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Polish and English in an easy way.
Like busuu’s iPhone apps, each Android app has an extensive vocabulary, with over 3000 words and key phrases, available across beginner, intermediate and advanced levels (A1 – B2) and also includes audiovisual learning content (consisting of pictures and sounds). The apps can be used even without an internet connection.
busuu.com was founded in 2008 by Bernhard Niesner and Adrian Hilti. In addition to the existing funding, busuu.com also raised an angel round from Martin Varsavsky (the founder of FON) three months ago.
