The Startup Executive Academy (SEA) is an international Go-to-Market programme for founders and executives of early-stage technology startups that has been taking place annually since 2017 in the Castle of Urstein – Salzburg, Austria. The aim of the academy is to enable startups to accelerate their business by providing highly relevant and practical input that is delivered by a world-class faculty from academia and business.
The SEA is organized by Silicon Castles, an Austria-based strategic business accelerator, and led by Prof. Baba Shiv from the Stanford Graduate School of Business together with Andreas Spechtler, founder and CEO of Silicon Castles.
This year, the SEA21 will be a hybrid model and will happen in two stages.
Stage 1: September 9 – 11, Castle of Urstein, Salzburg
The first stage will be a face-to-face programme in Salzburg, Austria. Participants will experience three intensive days full of relevant and highly practical contents. These are taught by the SEA faculty and include the topics of Business Model & Strategy, Storytelling, Value Proposition, Pricing and Investment. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss the individual challenges their startups are facing right now in one-on-one sessions with the SEA faculty.
Stage 2: September 23 – November 19, Online sessions
The second stage will be a 5-block live online programme. Participants will experience bi-weekly online live sessions on Product Management, IP generation, Sales & Sales Management, Deal Closing, Leadership and Team Building. In addition, they will meet regularly in small groups to discuss the working material as well as have again the chance to meet in one-on-ones with the SEA faculty.

The SEA Circle
After successful participation in the SEA21, participants will become part of the SEA Circle, the network of the SEA alumni and faculty. Members can benefit from the global network of the SEA Circle and regular (online) events, the so-called ‘SEA Circle Sessions’. In these sessions, SEA Circle members get input from invited speakers on currently important startup topics, they can share their experiences on success and failure and receive advice from their peers.
By the way, Silicon Castles will also be joining our EU-Startups Summit on April 28 – 30 which takes place as an online event this year. Silicon Castles will be represented with a virtual booth and also host a workshop during the event.

Prof. Baba Shiv will also talk about the role human emotions play in shaping decisions and behaviour.
