Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary (Madonna’s Manager) have recently invested in a mysterious Berlin based startup called Amen. This first round of financing (worth $2 million) was led by Index Ventures.
As the platform is in private beta right now there are just a few people who really know what Amen is all about. Some of these people have called it “Strangely Addictive”, “Pop-Cultural Engineering” or even “Better than Porn”.
According to the startup itself Amen is about making strong statements and ultimately about making sense of the world. Amen will be rolling out on different platforms over the course of this year.
The founding team consists of Felix Petersen (Founder of Plazes), Florian Weber (First engineer at Twitter), Caitlin Winner (MIT & Nokia) and Ricki Vester Gregersen (Input Squared). On AmenHQ.com the startup published some details about the open positions at Amen (Community Manager, Android Developer…).
My guess is that Amen will be a web and mobile based community platform that enables its users to share their opinions about everything and everybody in an engaging way. But whatever it might be: The mixture of a mysterious name, an unknown business model and famous investors has already created some buzz.
What are the Berlin based startups that got funded with more than €1m in the last 12 months?…
The ones I can think of off the top of my head are: * Amen (https://www.eu-startups.com/2011/07/mysterious-amen-secures-2m-from-prominent-investors/) * Gidsy (http://blog.gidsy.com/post/15786117201/gidsy-just-got-funded) * 6wunderkinder (http://www.6wun…
