Launches, Partnerships & Expansions: Interesting startup milestones we tracked last week

The European startup ecosystem is full of interesting and exciting news, twists and turns. At EU-Startups, our aim is to keep you informed on everything that’s going on and share the inspiring entrepreneurial spirit this continent has to offer. From big funding announcements, duocorns picking up pace, to new partnerships and conscious collaborations – there’s never a dull day!

So, with this in mind, we decided to pull together all the big milestones that we saw this week into one place. It’s impossible for us to cover every announcement with an article, but perhaps this is one way we can continue to share as much as possible about up-and-coming innovators and ideas. 

This week, travel is booming and fast-growing Milan-based travel tech startup WeRoad took the highway to France and Germany, entering into these two big markets, greentech continued to hit the headlines and tennis superstars Serena and Venus Williams became active investors and company ambassadors of Europe’s first social trading app, Shares. 

Fresh launches

  • UK-based social app Linkup dropped and is set to revolutionise the way we socialise. The app encourages people to get off their phones and meet up in person, supporting people to take charge of their own adventures and connections, going beyond their social circle and creating ‘linkups’ based on shared interests.
  • MVP Match, a marketplace and community for matchmaking fast-growing companies with global vetted tech talent unveiled a new feature for recruiting a complete team of developers and designers from various fields
  • Prelaunch launched its platform that combines all metrics required to predict a product’s future, transforming product launches
  • UK-based angel syndicate i³ Investing launched as a new fund dedicated to backing LGBTQ+ founders and entrepreneurs from underestimated backgrounds. 
  • Sisu Clinic, a doctor-led cosmetic medicine destination offering an extensive range of non-invasive aesthetic treatments, opened the doors to its newest Irish clinic in Waterford City
  • NADMED was launched to use NAD molecules to help people understand their bodies at a cellular level. Founded by Anu Wartiovaara, the aim is that it will help give better insights into a variety of medical concerns, everything from cancer to covid and metabolic diseases
  • Swedish app Bower launched in the UK, the app rewards users with money and couples, or, enables users to donate their rewards to charitable causes whenever they recycle everyday waste items
  • The Retford Circular Economy Project was launched in the UK as an initiative to carefully  extract pulverized fuel ash (PFA) waste from a former landfill and process it  into a sustainable cement alternative
  • London-based startup Crono launched, aiming to transform outbound prospecting in the B2B market through Artificial Intelligence and dynamic sequences.
  • 9 investors in Norway joined forces to offer capital and support to startups in the marine, maritime and subsea industries. The aim is to accelerate innovation that is enabling sustainable enjoyment and use of our oceans
  • RoomRaccoon announced its next-gen platform which will introduce new navigation screens designed to deliver  simpler, user-centric technology to hotels to manage, market and grow their business
  • E Scooter operators Neuron Mobility launched its inaugural global hackathon as an open data science comp for students in universities or colleges in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and the UK
  • Environment tech innovators HumanForest launched products on its TreeCoin Market on the app, bringing even more sustainable products to the community.

Fresh partnerships, collaborations and acquisitions

  • Malaga-based Freepik expanded its reach with strategic acquisitions in the Nordics and LATAM regions
  • Thallo, a web3 climate startup that is building a  new marketplace for high-quality voluntary carbon credits, has named Ripple and Climate Collective among its 23 initial partners for its first-of-its-kind blockchain-based marketplace.
  • Zero Petroleum will supply its revolutionary fossil-free fuel to the world’s first licensed drone cargo airline, Dronamics, for testing with a view to commercial use in its long-range cargo drone. The partnership aims to support the creation of Dronamics’ sustainable same-day delivery service
  • Fintech startup Weavr announced a new partnership with Gigable,  the equitable gig economy platform that connects businesses with flexible workers.
  • Workplace tech leaders Condeco and iOffice + SpaceIQ shared plans to merge to form a new entity, Eptura. The new company aims to become the essential tech tool for the modern workforce.
  • Know Your Customer, the No. 1 provider of real-time registry connections in the industry, and Hawk AI, Germany’s leading software provider of anti-money laundering surveillance technology for banks, payment firms, and fintech joined forces
  • Bob W acquired another regional competitor, KOTI Hotel, as it moves towards European market leadership in the hospitality space
  • On-demand laundry service  ihateironing shared that it’ll be collaborating with Brixton Tate Library to help low-income residents dress for success and ace their interviews

Significant milestones and insights

  • Travel is booming. According to AugustaFreePress.com, travel and tourism revenues are set to reach $716.8bn in 2022, showing a huge 45% YoY increase. Interested in travel? Make sure you head to this year’s FutureTravel Summit!
  • Aventus, the enterprise-grade blockchain platform, announced that it has achieved carbon-neutral status for 2022.
  • Interstellar Lab unveiled its first functional BioPod. The startup is designing living crop systems in controlled environments on Earth for sustainable agriculture and in space to support astronaut life.
  • Remazing picked up new funding from IK Partners to accelerate its international growth 
  • UK-based Club Soda kickstarted a fresh crowdfunding campaign, aiming to raise €25k and open its first permanent venue
  • Norrsken Foundation opened Norrsken House Barcelona, to become the single largest Norrsken House location for impact technology entrepreneurs in Europe
  • International tennis champions Serena and Venus Williams are now active investors and company ambassadors of social trading app, Shares
  • Looks like people are saving rather than investing – that’s what app marketing and analytics platform App Radar has discovered as the cost of living crisis takes a hold
  • Mozzeno hit the milestone of lending on its fintech platform exceeding €100 000 000 
  • Jenson Funding Partners, the early-stage venture capital firm, has successfully exited OneTouch, a digital health platform that allows home care providers to manage care delivery from a centralized app
