Even in the age of mobile phones, many people – especially men – still opt to wear watches as essential markers of their personal style.
Bilbao-based Chronoexpert is an online marketplace for new and pre-owned luxury watches, operating in 10 countries. All of the nearly 7,000 watches on its platform go through a rigorous, multi-layered process of certification and verification, ensuring the highest quality for customers.
The company was founded in 2016 by a team with extensive digital experience led by Pablo Martín, with support from entrepreneurs in the Spanish and international markets.
Approximately 50% of Chronoexpert’s sales come from international markets, proving the reach of the company’s global presence. Rolex, Cartier, Omega and Breitling are some of the brands with the highest demand.
In order to continue expanding in the coming months, Chronoexpert has landed a funding round of €800,000 led by the Spanish venture capital firm K Fund, with participation from business angels. The startup plans to use these funds for product development, recruiting top talent with digital experience and sector knowledge, and boosting marketing campaigns both nationally and internationally.
Pablo Martín said: “Our goal is to shift from the more traditional buying experience to the online world, while maintaining the customer’s trust throughout the entire process. Therefore, along with other benefits, the platform offers a 14-day return policy and 12 months of additional warranty.”
Martín added: “We are extremely pleased with K Fund for leading this funding round as they are one of the most prestigious VC firm in Spain. We are looking forward to working together with the K Fund team.”
