British company Tastebuds to acquire music-based dating startup moosify

Tastebuds Media Ltd announced today that it has entered into an agreement to acquire moosify (Update – May 2023: The startup seems to be no longer in business under this website, and we therefore deactivated the original link). The transaction will create the largest music-based dating service worldwide. After the acquisition, moosify will continue to operate under the leadership of moosify’s CEO in the transition period and will provide advisory services.

Tastebuds and moosify – founded in 2010 and 2012 respectively – match like-minded people through music. Collectively the services are responsible for establishing thousands of new friendships, relationships and marriages across the world. The services work when users create profiles by connecting their Spotify accounts, iPhone music libraries, and Facebook accounts and are immediately matched to people with similar musical preferences. Breaking the ice is made easy with users sharing songs and playlists.

Alex Parish, co-founder of Tastebuds, said: “The moosify team have built a fantastic service with a highly engaged user base which we are excited to welcome to our platform. Together we’ll be able to create even more great connections for our users.”

On the other side, Hansjoerg Posch, CEO of moosify, said: “We’re thrilled to join Tastebuds and see the concept of music dating flourish. With this move moosify will become part of a larger network, provide a better experience to our users, and cement music as a powerful tool for matchmaking.”
