Sellaround, the Stuttgart-based startup which helps users sell individual products via social selling widgets, just received fresh capital in a financing round with K5 (Update – January 2023: The startup seems to be no longer in business under this name and we therefore deactivated the link).
The concrete sum of this round has not been disclosed yet, but it’s in the 6-figure-rage. Sellaround was founded in 2010, is operated by Maria GmbH, and is available in German and English. On what is probably the first ever social-commerce platform for selling and reselling in the social web, users create widgets that combine ad banners and mini-shop with integrated payment process. The widgets can be embedded in Facebook, Twitter, on blogs, websites and as QR code and are used as virtual sales area. There is also the option of offering the products for resale, further boosting viral circulation.
Sellaround.net is free of charge and is aimed in particular at young artists (musicians, designers, authors, etc.) seeking to distribute their works in a lucrative manner. However, professional vendors seeking a broader distribution of their products will also discover that Sellaround.net is a suitable platform.
