Discover-Malta

Discover Malta:

With over 7,000 years of history and influences from many major civilizations, Malta is a melting pot of cultures where you will find something for everyone. Our friends from SIT (Special Interest Travel), a highly motivated, multinational team with over 40 years of experience in creating fantastic experiences in Malta, shared with us their top recommendations for things to do and places to visit:

Valletta, Malta’s capital city: It is a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with beautiful churches, gardens, and shopping opportunities. We highly recommend visiting St. John’s Co-Cathedral, where you will have the privilege of seeing two paintings by the master artist Caravaggio. Many dining options are available, including three different Michelin-starred restaurants.

Mdina, also known as the silent city and Malta’s old capital city: Located in the centre of the island and perched on a high hill, its winding streets and stunning views merit a visit. St. Paul’s Co-Cathedral and the famous Fontanella Cafeteria, where a slice of cake and a cup of tea or coffee will fill you with joy, are must-visits.

The Three Cities: Vittoriosa, Senglea, and Cospicua: A pleasant small boat ride can be taken from the Valletta shore crossing into Birgu (Vittoriosa). Walking through the narrow, winding streets will transport you back in time. The best way to see the Three Cities is by electric golf car.

Marsaxlokk & the South of Malta: Marsaxlokk is a typical fishing village. On Sunday mornings, the seaside town transforms into Malta’s largest market, where you can find anything from fresh fish, produce, clothes, and souvenirs, to household items. It’s recommended to visit the Blue Grotto and Hagar Qim Temples, which are part of a network of structures older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids in Giza.

Gozo, the sister island: Accessible by a 20-minute ferry that departs every 45 minutes from the north of the island. There is also a 45-minute fast ferry that leaves from Valletta, which could be an option as well. Private tours can be arranged to see the best spots, many of which are off the beaten path.

Comino Island, famous for the Blue Lagoon: Known for its crystal-clear waters in an idyllic setting, it becomes extremely busy in the summer months. It is only accessible by boat. Boat taxis leave for Comino from the north of the island, or larger vessels depart from Sliema.
