London-based Vegan food delivery startup Planty secures €770k to fuel its growth

The London-based Vegan food delivery startup Planty has recently raised €770,000 from existing investor Veg Capital as well as Kale United, prominent angel investors and through crowdfunding. We already reported about their first €180K in seed funding in September of 2020.

Founded in 2019, Planty is a social venture – launched by Alexander Sheehan-Dare, Joseph Lovell and Andrea Cavallo – with a determination to drive positive change and shift perceptions on how a plant-based diet can be good for you, good for the planet, and yet, still super easy, tasty and exciting. So far, Planty focuses on the delivery of vegan frozen meals.

The young company will use the fresh capital to move to a larger facility, expand their range alongside desserts & breakfasts and plan an expansion to Scandinavia.

“A lot of it comes down to choice. We need to satisfy the demand of people who are trying to make this positive change by giving people more high-quality and tasty food options; which, most importantly, can compete with their meat-based options! Thankfully, in the last few years there has been a huge number of plant-based food companies setting up shop, both online and on the ground, helping to make that decision a bit easier for everyone.” says the founding team.

Eating vegan doesn’t have to be a lifestyle sacrifice anymore, and thanks to startups like Planty we now have access to more delicious plant-based choices than ever before. Planty set out to give people the opportunity to join a movement and do their part for themselves
and for the planet.

Co-founder Andrea explained: “We may not be able to pry everyone away from their double cheeseburger but we can certainly expect to see the number of people eating more plants continue to increase in the future. Whether this be for environmental, health, or animal welfare reasons (or all three!), they just need the products available in their arsenal to help them achieve that goal.”
