London-based health clinic for men Numan acquires Swedish health company Vi-Health

Today London-based men’s health startup Numan has announced its acquistion of Vi-Health, a pioneering medical science and healthcare technology company based in Sweden.

Launched in February 2019, Numan helps men take action when it comes to their health and wellbeing. According to the startup, recent findings show that 3 out of 4 men don’t go to the doctor when something is wrong. Men are also more likely to get cancer, heart disease and become overweight, and are more prone to smoking, drinking, and abusing drugs. The company provides regulated treatment options for the most common male health concerns, with a team of clinicians who can create personalised treatment plans online.

Founded in 2020, Vi Health’s platform is registered as a Class I Medical Device. It includes an AI-powered symptom checker, advanced e-consultation tools (such as collaborative chat, voice and video consultations), and workflow automation tools. In combination they have been shown to reduce the workload faced by a clinical team by as much as 70%, in trials run by the company in Sweden.

The technology extends Numan’s Clinic OS, and accelerates the company’s journey towards becoming a holistic, full-stack, digital health provider. The majority of the Vi-Health team will also be joining Numan, whilst continuing to work from their offices in Stockholm and Malmö.

Sokratis Papafloratos, founder and CEO of Numan, said, “Vi-health is an exceptional company and was the perfect fit for us in terms of vision, IP and skills. We want Numan to be your first step on a journey to better health and wellbeing, and Vi Health’s technology and IP help us get there faster. More importantly, the team was a big driver behind our decision to make the acquisition. It’s a group of people full of talent, deep expertise, and a passion about changing healthcare for the better, on a global scale. We’re all very excited to be working together.”

Numan has so far helped 150,000 patients and recruited 300,000 men to its platform, who in total have engaged in 1.4 million digital consultations. In October 2020, the startup also landed €11 million Series A funding.
