On April 20-21, 2023, we will be welcoming you again to our annual EU-Startups Summit in Barcelona! This year, the event will be bigger and better than ever before and we’ll have lots of exciting speakers, panel discussions, networking activities, pitch competitions and much more. The EU-Startups Summit will gather over 2,000 founders, startup enthusiasts and investors for two days of networking, inspiration and learning!
This year, one of the panel discussions on our main stage will be covering all things startup media. It’s a topic that is incredibly important in your startup’s growth journey, and one we frequently get asked about.
For early-stage startups, getting noticed and getting media attention can be a crucial part to getting off the ground. Media coverage can help startups to get on the radar of early adopters, future team members and investors alike. Across Europe, startup ecosystems are thriving and we have a healthy number of media publications keeping us up-to-date on all the latest startup news.
Given the EU-Startups Summit is Europe’s meeting point for startups, investors, and the startup community as a whole, we wanted to draw some attention to Europe’s startup publications – sharing who are the key players in this sector and how to get featured.
This year, we’ll be hosting a Startup Media panel discussion on the main stage, featuring some of Europe’s leading publications and startup media representatives. This panel will feature:
Mike Butcher, the Editor-at-Large of TechCrunch, Remco Janssen, the founder and publisher of Silicon Canals, Cathy White, the founder and director of CEW Communications, and Patricia Allen, Editorial Director of EU-Startups.
Mike Butcher is Editor-at-large of TechCrunch. He has written for several UK newspapers and magazines and has been named one of the most influential people in European technology by Wired UK. He has spoken at the likes of the World Economic Forum and also interviewed names such as Tony Blair and many others. TechCrunch, founded in 2005, is based in the US and covers global startup news, making Mike a global expert on all things startup.
Cathy White, Founder & Director of CEW Communications, specialises in communications for tech startups and the wider ecosystem that supports them. She founded CEW Communications at the end of 2016 and has worked with a roster of clients including early-stage and fast-growth startups – Chattermill, Microverse, Mondu, Toqio, and Sleepwave, and investors – APEX Ventures, Creator Ventures, FOV Ventures, Lunar Ventures and Pact. Prior to running CEW, Cathy held key roles as Head of Communications for Tech Nation and early-stage VC Seedcamp. She’s also the host of EU VC Lowdown podcast.
Remco Janssen is the Founder & Publisher of Silicon Canals, an active member of the tech and startup ecosystem, and is passionate about the ways tech startups and corporates communicate. He is an expert in PR for startups and content marketing. Founded in 2014 in the Netherlands, Silicon Canals reports on the Benelux and European startup ecosystem, covering news, knowledge and insights related to European tech.
Patricia Allen is the Editorial Director of EU-Startups providing in-depth analysis of Europe’s startup and innovation space and cultivating content that connects the wider ecosystem. She brings EU-Startups’ audience daily startup news, investigates what’s going on in the wider European entrepreneurial ecosystem, hosts the EU-Startups podcast, and is passionate about impact-driven and collaborative innovation.
This media panel is going to be at once educational and enjoyable. These four media experts are all leading the startup media sector in Europe and will have interesting stories to share with us. Make sure not to miss it! Secure your ticket now!
