Convious has just closed €10.5 million in Series A funding to grow its AI-driven ecommerce platform dedicated to the experience economy.
Headquartered in Amsterdam, Convious was founded in 2017 with the aim to connect leisure operators with their visitors, letting them enhance visitor experience, increase conversions, and manage all internal operations from a single place. The innovative startup was on our 10 Dutch startups to watch in 2019 list.
Digitalization has accelerated over the past year due to the global pandemic and associated lockdowns. As a result, ecommerce has become a necessity rather than a luxury. However, the experience economy has traditionally lagged behind with keeping up with digital transformation.
At the same time, the experience economy has been suffering the adverse effects of the pandemic and restriction of movement as venues like theme parks, zoos, museums, and indoor playgrounds were closed. Even as the world tentatively opens up again, these venues are still finding it hard to attract and convert visitors. Now more than ever, the sector needs digitalization to enhance performance and give companies a fighting chance.
This is where Convious is coming in. The young company enables greater connectivity between operators and their visitors. The AI-driven ecommerce platform helps convert visitors with personalized offers, the sale of tickets at dynamic real-time prices, a frictionless buying experience and analytics on the guests’ experience.
Convious delivers one single cloud platform that supports all core operations: it enhances the guest journey end to end while delivering an easy to use solution for all employees. From Point of Sale to mobile food ordering and from personnel planning to payments. It can run independently or integrate with the tools the businesses already use.
Over 125 companies from 16 countries including Movie Park, Pleasurewood Hills and Bayern Park use Convious to drive visitors directly through their own channels. According to Convious data, the platform was able to increase customers’ conversion ratio by 86% on average in 2021, and increase revenue by 201%.
Camiel Kraan, CEO and founder at Convious, said: “Despite the large size, the experience economy lagged far behind in transitioning to modern, cloud-based platforms…with Convious, we strive to satisfy their needs, delivering the best experience possible and bringing them into the age of digitization.”
The fresh funding was led by Begin Capital. Market One Capital, MillionMonkeys and FJ Labs have joined the round, as well as its existing investor Capital Mills. The funding will be used to drive expansion, helping Convious to open offices in the US, France, UK, Germany and beyond. It will also be used to grow the team, which is currently at a headcount of 6.
