Vasco Pedro, founder and CEO of Unbabel, joins our upcoming EU-Startups Summit to talk about how AI is transforming the translation market

On the 28th-30th April 2021, we’re hosting the 7th edition of the EU-Startups Summit (Online). This 2-day event will give you the chance to meet over 1,500 participants (founders, startup enthusiasts, corporates, angel investors, VCs, and media), learn from around 70 expert speakers, listen to educational talks with internationally successful founders, network (via our events platform) and bite your nails through our exciting pitch competition.

Today we are excited to announce that Vasco Pedro, Co-founder and CEO of rising star Unbabel, will be joining us as speaker and sharing his tips, experience and knowledge with you

Unbabel removes language barriers between companies and their customers by blending artificial intelligence with a global network of translators to provide real-time, human-quality translations at scale. In 2019 they raised €55 million in Series C financing, bringing their total figure for funding to $91 million, as well as being given the title of ‘Best global Machine Translation Quality Estimation’ at WMT19. Founded in 2013, Unbabel is working with major players, such as Booking.com, TomTom, Trello, easyJet and Microsoft, offering them ‘next dimension of multilingual customer support’.

Vasco has acted as founder and CEO of Unbabel for over 7 years, owning the company vision, overall business strategy and product development, as well as growing the company from Lisbon to San Francisco. In addition, he has been a mentor for early-stage startups for Beta-i for 8 years, founded two other companies, and holds a PhD in ‘Natural Language Processing’.

At the EU-Startups Summit, Vasco will hold a keynote with the inside story behind Unbabel’s growth, as well as his perspective on how AI is transforming the translation market. After his talk, there will be time for questions to jump delve deeper into his expertise and discover how to apply these learnings to your own startup.
