Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Data Scientist supporting the Manufacturing Advanced Analytics Program within the crop protection manufacturing business platform.

The Manufacturing Advanced Analytics program is implementing digitization, automation, and advanced analytics solutions at Corteva’s global crop protection manufacturing (CPM) sites located across North America, South America and the European Union, which aim to be on the forefront of using data and advanced analytics in everyday decisions.

The Manufacturing Advanced Analytics program is currently growing and is looking to expand Corteva’s competitive advantage with innovation of the production system achieving operational excellence, increased productivity and better product quality.

Manufacturing Advanced Analytics will work to maximize revenue across crop protection manufacturing chain, and at the individual production plants.

Specific Manufacturing Advanced Analytics project initiatives being executed are the following :

  • Manufacturing Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning, and AI : Online analysis of plant unit operations to increase throughput / quality, and reduce downtime
  • Work Process Digitization and Automation : Implementing digital solutions and software to automate manual data entry, and facilitate advanced analytics through data streamlining
  • Site wide manufacturing modeling and digitization : Data based decisions and modeling to maximize site revenue
  • Upgrading organizational analytics and digital skills : In line with executing projects for maximizing value, the program will also be working to increase the analytics and digital skills for all of our manufacturing staff to enable the successful use of Manufacturing 4.0 solutions

Your Challenge :

  • Join the Manufacturing Advanced Analytics Program to identify business problems and deliver data science models which enhance data-driven decision making in our manufacturing operations in the European Union.
  • Apply machine learning / statistical models and other computational approaches to extract insights from large datasets in manufacturing systems.
  • Identify, acquire, and engineer feature data sets with potential to address customer needs
  • Partner with data and software engineering teams to deploy models in production
  • Collaborate with scientists from manufacturing in solution / experiment design and analyses.
  • Leverage data science and data engineering resources, capabilities, and best practices from the Corteva Data Science group and work to integrate these into the Manufacturing Advanced Analytics program.
  • Conduct and communicate results of research on data science approaches to improve decisions, add value to services, extend or improve in-house models and algorithms, and contribute to the advancement of these ideas.

Location :

Ideally this role would be based at one of the current plant locations (Asturias Spain, Cerny / Drusenhiem France, Mozzanica Italy), but outstanding candidates who wish to work remote from other in other locations and regions will be considered.

Qualifications

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need

Required Qualifications and Competencies :

  • PhD or (MS with 5+ years of experience) in Computer science, Operations Research, Applied Statistics, Engineering, or a related field and demonstrated experience in machine learning.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of foundational Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms and and extensive experience (5+ years) in their applications (e.g. random forests, SVMs, deep learning architectures for sequence processing such as LSTMs)
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one data querying and one scripting language (e.g. SQL, Python, R, C++, Scala)

 

Preferred Competencies :

  • Background or experience working in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant disciplines is strongly preferred.
  • 2-5 years of relevant post-graduate work experience highly preferred, ideally in machine learning / AI.
  • Familiarity with chemical manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Ability to independently deliver analytic solutions by asking the right questions, identifying necessary data sources / features, building predictive models, and producing actionable results.
  • Experience with cloud environments
  • Experience with Relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Ability to work with fast-paced teams and complete complex projects on time and in budget.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with different teams / cultures around the world
  • Passion for solving problems using new techniques and can-do’ attitude
