Akira Science is a tech spin-off from KTH Royal Institute of Technology that is projected to have a lead role in the manufacturing of smart and innovative technologies to produce patient-specific and degradable implants for medical applications. The company aims to put an end on breast cancer surgery that removes the entire breast and use silicone implants, through the nexus between two revolutionary disciplines: tissue engineering and 3D printing. Akira´s team has introduced on the market an innovative patented technology based on a unique, biocompatible, degradable and 3D-printable material to facilitate breast reconstruction surgery and achieve 100 % soft and natural tissue regeneration to improve women´s physical and mental
health. Akira´s goal is to provide an advanced degradable implant to patients who have undergone breast surgery to contribute to the development of the next generation of multifunctional biomaterials that provide a better match with the application as well as manufacturing a technology utilized to fabricate the devices.

Akira Science provides pliable 3D-printed scaffolds for soft tissue engineering and/or filaments that you can use in our printer. We offer both pre-made or customized scaffold designs, where we can aid you with the simulation of the mechanical properties through the structures.
Our products are all the result of research and the combined expertise of our team within degradable polymers synthesis, processing, mechanical simulation, and cell-material interaction.
