Amsterdam-based Cheflix adds €1 million to cook more masterclasses content from top restaurants

Cheflix, a Netflix of star chefs, announced it has raised €1 million during a new round of funding from various investors, including the founders of successful scaleups Creative Fabrica and Studocu. Despite interest from a major media conglomerate in the United States, Cheflix founders Thomas van Burg and Jeroen van den Brink, opted for a round with investors closer to home.

Since its launch in early 2021, Cheflix has continued its rapid growth. With over 60,000 members from 30 different countries, Cheflix has made significant growth recently. With the fresh growth capital, Cheflix can invest in the development of its own mobile app and new content.

The goal is to be able to offer masterclasses on Cheflix from the top 100 restaurants in the Netherlands. In addition to recipes, the masterclasses will include videos on useful cooking techniques, such as how to cut an onion perfectly, how to make mayonnaise or how to skin (peel) a tomato. Another part of the investment will be used to help its members create customised menus for delicious home cooking.

“From our user data research, we noticed that Cheflix members have increasingly been using the platform as their cookbook rather than a streaming platform,” said Jeroen van den Brink, founder of Cheflix.

The demand for more content continued to grow. In addition to recipes, Cheflix now also offers videos featuring useful cooking techniques and other kitchen tips from top chefs around the world.

With the launch of the new content website, Cheflix will also introduce an app that allows cooking enthusiasts to easily watch Cheflix on their smartphones, tablets, and even TV. Furthermore, there will be an investment in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to tailor content for each member. “For example, vegetarians will not see recipes with meat in their overview,” added Van den Brink.

Soon, in collaboration with the Dutch platform Crowdaboutnow, Cheflix will launch its own crowdfunding campaign, allowing everyone to invest with an attractive return. The crowdfunding effort is primarily aimed at building a larger community around Cheflix.
