The Paris-based startup behind the social planning app WePopp today announced closing a small funding round of €130K from a number of French angel investors (Update – April 2023: The startup seems to be no longer in business under this website, and we therefore deactivated the original link).
According to the young company, the fresh capital will be used to “growth-hack” its way from its current 15,000 downloads, to hundreds of thousands of users. WePopp has been bootstrapped so far and recently went through the French accelerator programme Le Camping.
WePopp aims to make it as simple as possible to plan activities with friends, in just a few clicks. You decide when and where to meet, and confirm who’s coming, without needing to send an email or a text message. For ease of use, when you invite a group of friends to a social activity on WePopp, not everyone is the group has to already be a user. If someone is yet not a WePopp user, he or she can still be included in the planning process; they’re just notified via SMS and asked to respond through the browser-based version of WePopp.
