Company Overview

You will be joining a rapidly growing start-up Managing General Agent (Insurance) as their Underwriting Assistant on a full-time, permanent basis.

Part of a close-knit, welcoming and highly collaborative team, you will report into the Senior Development Underwriter who will be there to support you from day one and assist with your transition into the business.

Based in their modern City of London office 4 days a week for your first 6-8 weeks, you will then move on to their flexible hybrid working model of 1-2 days a week in the office (sometimes even less).

Role Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for data entry, data analysis, assisting the management team with scheduling, stakeholder management (internal and external), logging quotes, reviewing presentations, data manipulation using Excel, calculating loss ratio, proportioning premiums, risk improvement and diary management.
  • You will have the opportunity to assist with company-wide projects around process automation and system improvement.

Role Requirements:

  • To be considered for this role, you will ideally have some experience working in the Insurance space, preferably within an Underwriting or Administrative capacity.
  • Recent graduates and school leavers, and candidates with some office experience will be considered.
  • You will need to possess an ambitious attitude, meticulous attention to detail, strong communication skills and a proactive approach to all tasks.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a clear willingness to learn and show a genuine interest in working in the Insurance industry and specifically in an Underwriting role.
  • You will be confident with the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, and be quick to pick up new systems.
  • You will be a personable individual who has the ability to work well independently and as a part of a high-performing team.

In Return:

  • You will receive an annual salary of up to £35,000 (depending on experience) + Annual Bonus (discretionary based on individual and company performance) + Benefits (including 28 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays) and this package will be regularly reviewed to remain in line with market rate.
