Are you someone who enjoys finding commercial opportunities for state-of-the-art computer applications in artificial intelligence, machine learning, human sensing and analysis, computer network and digital asset security?

Would you like to be involved in discovering use-cases for quantum computers and simulators or a low power alternative processor for data-centres?

Are you an AI and computing technology evangelist?

If you enjoy understanding cutting-edge technologies and translating them into commercial benefits for other companies with a view to creating mutually beneficial collaborations and partnerships, this role is for you.

With a base in Fujitsu Research of Europe (FRE), but interacting with the over 1000 researchers from the network of international research units, you will have access to technologies being developed internally and not yet released as products.

You will be responsible for promoting these technologies and finding companies that would find them of interest, from startups and scaleups to fully established companies.

In opening up our laboratories to external parties you will be simultaneously helping to form and modify our own research strategy, bringing customer’s requirements directly back to the researchers, helping them to create products that match market needs.

Often a Proof of Concept project will be the first step in a collaboration to evaluate the value of our technology within a prospect’s processes.

From there, many routes forward are possible depending on what works best for any given collaboration, whether that is a simple license agreement, a joint venture, commercialization via our business units or even investment or acquisition.

We are looking for a Research Commercial-Partnership Scout to join our Business Incubation Division team, supporting the commercialization of our Research and Development activities in the UK, Spain and Israel, Japan, India, California.

Your role will involve :

  • Understanding key technologies to find partnerships and PoCs
  • Connecting and liaising with numerous company and technology ecosystems across the UK and Europe via internet search, networking organisations, industry meetings, trade-shows, conferences, your own network and other means to find prospects.
  • Matching prospect business needs with our technologies.
  • Working with a prospect to identify technologies they might be interested in.
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders, researchers, research units and the business units as appropriate to garner interest in a collaboration and enable a PoC to be successfully undertaken.
  • Project managing PoCs both on behalf of our internal colleagues and the external prospect to optimize the benefits of the collaboration for both parties.
  • Aim to convert collaborations to revenue generation where appropriate, primarily via licensing or re-selling.
  • Your role will be based in the UK covering European activities but you will part of a global team with colleagues in other parts of the Fujitsu Group.
  • You will report into the Deputy Head of the Business Incubation Division currently based in Fujitsu Research of America .

This is an outward facing role involving meetings both on Teams and Face-to-Face in addition to occasional local and European travel to attend events.

Your experience

To be suitable for this opportunity, you will be able to demonstrate that you have :

  • Degree level education
  • A track record of . evaluating how technologies could benefit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and you will be a skilled negotiator
  • Self-sufficient and proactive with sound business acumen, demonstrating ability to understand the core issues and challenges of customers
