I am working with a great start-up conducting exciting and ground-breaking research focusing on developing therapies to address the diseases and disabilities of ageing .

Having just received significant funding to further investigate the concept , the company are now looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Assay Biologist to support the existing team and conduct the hands-on scientific research at the Babraham Science Campus in Cambridge.

You’ll be hands-on from day one where you can get in at the start of an exciting new company , with the potential to participate in every aspect of the company's scientific growth .

You are a self-starter with a proven ability to work with agility and pace without a loss of precision to develop and deploy protein- or RNA-level assays to monitor cell state in mammalian cells.

This is a key role in a flexible, fast-growing startup in a significant and exciting area of therapeutic discovery and would be ideal for scientists who wish to expand their repertoire of scientific techniques by working alongside experienced and inspiring scientific professionals.

Essential skills and experience :

  • Relevant PhD and Post-doctoral experience in an academic or commercial setting
  • Experience in cell culture, especially of primary human cells
  • Experience in deploying and validating quantitative assays for transcription levels and proteins in cell culture, including the selection of methods, reagents, chemistries etc...
  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of working effectively in diverse teams.
  • Ability to self-start, work independently, set own goals and priorities

Desirable demonstrated skills for this post are:

  • Experience in quantitative or semi-quantitative gene expression assays
  • Experience in protein : DNA and protein : protein interaction analysis, such as gel-shift assays.
  • Experience of protein phosphorylation assays

Knowledge of multiplex gene analysis for expression profile development

Public scientific excellence : publications, conference communication and patents
