About the Senior Pre-Sales Virtualization (X86 / Wintel) Solution Architect Role :
The Solution Architect is responsible for supporting the sales team in providing IT managed services and solution support to the client.
The Solution Architect will have experienced in dealing with MultiPlatform, Complex IT Infrastructure solutions and managed services to address the client needs.
In addition, they will have experience across X86 virtualised Wintel / Lintel, Storage, Network, Security and IBM Power Systems for Public and Private cloud environments.
The individual must deliver high quality and workable solutions to clients in response to varying business requirements.
The Solution Architect will have product, technology, or industry-related specialised skills and regularly works with requirements identification, proposal development, and execute the activities (presentation, PoC, Benchmarking, etc. to ensure customer acknowledged and convinced on the advantages of the solution proposed
The primary job responsibilities include :
- Design of new and transitioned Managed Service Environments
- Guiding customers towards the most suitable solution for their requirements
- Aiding the sales team in opportunity development
- Design collaboration with other SA’s
Key Accountabilities :
- Technology Evangelist
- Remain certified in our major vendors and products
- Attend / provide training to internal and external stakeholders
- Extend own knowledge into new areas of the IT industry such as Cloud
- Responding to RFP’s and Tender requests
- The Solution Architect is expected to have analytical ability and creativity in developing and costing the IT Solution as a Managed Service and supporting the closing of the customer opportunities.
- Perform many assigned technical tasks including assessment studies & analysis, sizing & capacity planning, solution design, competitive analysis, technical & solution presentation, and product technical skill for supporting Demo, PoC and Benchmark activities.
- Build and recommend migration approaches to lift and shift workloads to public Cloud and / or architecting a green-field development and / or production platform for new applications.
- Develop standardised managed service costing tools.
- Ability to operate with ambiguity and able to define solution elements when all the required information is not immediately available.
Identify and document appropriate assumptions:
- As a Solution Architect within our Cloud and Infrastructure team you will use your knowledge of cloudbased solutions with Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud (VS / Classic Softlayer).
- Able to articulate solutions, service wrap and relate it with clients’ needs both technically and commercially.
- Capable of qualify opportunities, delivering presentations to the client at any level, including C-level.
- Technical product management of defined vendor technologies re certification, training, licensing, cost models.
Ideal Requirements for this Role :
- Several years' experience of building and costing Managed Services solutions.
- Technology, colocation, implementation, in live services and associated transition process and SLA’s
- Understanding the IT Infrastructure Solution and associated Managed Services Solution concepts as well as Hybrid Virtual Data Centre solutions.
- Network, storage and associated operating systems, virtualisation, associated private cloud, multitenant compute and associated security architectures.
- Understanding of X86 Compute, components include VMWare, Veeam, IBM Storage, Microsoft SPLA & CSP.
- IBM Power i and or AIX / Linux Midrange systems and associate infrastructure.
Desirable :
- Additional experience across AWS, Linux (RedHat), Office365 and DevOps is an advantage.
- Strategy and innovation in your specialist product area to expand or add to Solution services / proposition.
- Specific vendors - Lenovo Compute, Cisco (Switching, Routing and Firewalls) and Zerto.
- Knowledge of managed service contractual constructs, experience in the development of contract schedules.
- Financial services vertical experience.
