Swandoo is a young and rising brand in the child safety and family industry. Our first 3 products have won the most presigious design awards (iF, German Design, Red Dot), and have become test winners in the independent consumer testing from STIWA, ÖAMTC, ADAC, TCS. Our aim at Swandoo is to be a supportive companion on the path to a more balanced and joyful family lifestyle, with our product and service offering being pivotal to this. As a small team, our goal is to create epic products (Yayyyy!) in a highly competitive environment dominated by traditional -and boring- players (Boooo!).

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

WHAT WILL YOU BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

  • You will be taking the lead in the development of our brand experience, new products, services, and POS
  • You will participate in discussions with management in shaping the direction and product/service portfolio.
  • You will help define best practices and create the necessary structure for the team to grow.
  • You will be actively involved in sketching, 3d modelling, prototyping and developing ideas.
  • You will provide any necessary documentation, and interface with our production team in China. Travel might be required.
  • You will be up to date about design and industry trends, software tools, and technology, and will actively share, teach, and inspire other team members.
  • You will actively take part in ideations and suppporting activities for/with the Graphic Design and the Mar- keting team.
  • You will brief and lead the Graphic Design team in the creation of product graphics and user manuals, pro- viding written desciption of installation and usage steps and requirements.
  • You will be familiar with any relevant safety regulation for the products in our industry.

THE PERSON

  • Has an undergraduate degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or Transportation Design.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in product development, with proven expertise in bringing products from idea to market.
  • Has deep knowledge about materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods.
  • Exceptional design, visualization and product graphics skills.
  • Strong sketching skills. Should be able to communicate and discusss ideas on the fly.
  • Expert in Rhino and poly modeling (Modo or Blender). Creo is a plus.
  • Expert level in Adobe CC (Especially: Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign).
  • Loves to be hands on prototyping, testing ideas, and discussing with the Engineering team.
  • Must be a self-driven and resourceful problem solver, and willing to take ownership of projects.
  • Is a “people” person with strong empathy, emotional intelligence, and family values.
  • Must be comfortable working within a multi-cultural progressive startup.
  • Must have read “Design is a Job” by Mike Monteiro and clearly understands the difference between art and design.
  • Has a poster of the 10 principles of Good Design in their bedroom. Another one in the kitchen.
  • Must have strong written and spoken communication skills.
