The Electronics Test Engineer within Digital Surgery’s Innovation team is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing test solutions into our custom devices, medical devices, and Surgical Robotics products. The Electronics Test Engineer is part of the team delivering novel concepts and products for the operating room and collaborates, as an electronics expert, with a cross-functional engineering team including mechanical, design, embedded/ application software, and research experts.

 

A Day in the Life

  •  Be responsible for the full Test Systems life cycle
  •  Execute the requirements, design, implementation, and verification of assigned test systems using sound engineering principles while adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/programme requirements.
  •  Liaise and interface with other functions, e.g., Systems, Hardware, Software, Programmes, Manufacturing, Operations, and other stakeholders, to drive a testing culture throughout the team. •    Find faults of test systems (at both rig level and test equipment component level) and provide support in resolving technical issues to ensure test requirements are met. Also provide second tier support to front line maintenance personal to help resolve complex diagnostic issues.
  •  Be responsible for component selection, analysis and specification, circuit review, layout review and general debugging.
  •  Follow a rigorous design control methodology that spans from electronics design specifications through design transfer to manufacturing.
  •  Develop, test, and evaluate prototypes to aid in the determination of future product release content. •    Write detailed electronic design documentation, including specifications and verification plans. •    Support EMI/EMC compliance tests and regulatory documentation writing.
  •  Be responsible for digital circuit test and debugging, symbols and footprints creation, PCBA test and debug, and integrating designs for testing into electromechanical systems.
  •  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned Test Systems and/or tasks in line with engineering policies and procedures.
  •  Support the liaison with external suppliers to ensure the delivery of appropriate solutions to the standards required. Must Haves
  •  Expertise with proven commercial experience from simple to complex multi-layer high-speed PCBs for various analogy and digital systems including board layout, design, assembly and debug experience. •    Experience in Test System design, development, and hardware/software integration ideally gained in a Medical Devices or similar highly regulated environment.
  •  Experience in Qualification and Electromagnetic Compatibility Testing with required equipment. •    Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, layout, assembly, and fabrication drawings. •    Experience in debugging/reworking electronic assemblies, battery/power management, and associated test fixtures.
  •  Strong electronics hardware engineering background, preferably in a test environment working on electronics hardware, instrumentation, and software development.
  •  Experience in various digital bus architectures and interfaces such as I2C, USB, I2S, UART, SPI, MIPI-CSI/DSI, and LVDS signals.
  •  Proven experience with EMI/EMC compliance challenges, design for reliability, and design for manufacturing.
  •  Analytical and problem-solving skills. Nice to Haves
  •  Experience in medical devices or other regulated business
  •  Experience in hardware product development with an organisation developing consumer electronics, IoT devices, etc.
  •  Experience with Altium Designer
