Opportunity

Isotropic Systems is seeking an outstanding Senior Antenna Array Engineer to join our growing team of creative, highly skilled engineers. The Senior Antenna Array Engineer will be designing, analysing and measuring optimised RF Feed array structures for operation in concert with our RF lens antenna designs and will be actively contributing to the optimization of our overall antenna design. The Senior Antenna Array Engineer will be working closely with the members of the RF lens and active circuits teams and will be reporting to the Director of Passive Microwave Circuits.

Real world experience in the design of different feed elements and their relative performance advantages in the context of active phased array antennas, computational electromagnetics and simulation-based analysis, together with programming experience (Matlab, Python, etc.) would make for a very compelling candidate for this position. Experience of integrating the antenna elements with active circuits and taking antenna designs from concept, through prototype and to volume production are seen as key differentiators. Knowledge or experience with the concepts of lenses and transformational optics would be beneficial.

Independent, self-driven work ethic and good team, high verbal and written communication skills are required. Some travel to customer sites and our US office is possible.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Design and optimization of antenna elements and arrays of antenna elements.

Antenna analysis using 3D full-wave electromagnetic modelling.

Working with the RF lens and active circuits teams to ensure optimal design of the complete antenna.

Antenna measurements.

Radome design and considerations.

Generating comprehensive results-oriented reports for internal and external purposes.

Skills and/or Experience Needed:

Experience of a range of antenna array types and element designs (e.g. patches, waveguide etc.)

Experience of integration of active TX/RX electronics in antenna arrays.

Knowledge of PCB based manufacturing of antennas at mmWave frequencies.

Design and testing of antennas and arrays at mm-wave frequencies,

Design for cost and manufacturability of antenna arrays.

Understanding of interactions between antenna element design, feed network and active electronics design.

Knowledge and experience of active array antenna test and measurement, both S-parameters and radiation characteristics.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements for antennas operating in the SatCom industry

Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation using 3D full-wave electromagnetic modeling software (e.g. ANSYS HFSS, CST, XFDTD, COMSOL etc.)

Strong Matlab/Python/similar skills.

Use of optimisation algorithms

Other Abilities:
Strong communications skills

Ability to communicate calmly in a well thought out response, verbal and written
