We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Nuclear Safety Engineer, to be involved in Governance & Regulation.

Purpose for the Role

As the Nuclear Safety Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the development of the Rolls-Royce SMR Power Station and the successful completion of the licensing and permitting processes.

About the Role

Deterministic Analysis Program : Assist in developing and maintaining the deterministic analysis program as an integral part of the broader nuclear safety case delivery program.

This includes ensuring that the program meets quality and governance standards.

  • Hazard Identification Support : Plan and facilitate hazard identification studies (such as HAZOP), produce detailed records, and compile identified hazards into the Hazard Log, supporting the overall hazard identification program.
  • Engineering Collaboration : Work closely with engineering disciplines, providing deterministic analysis input to guide design decisions.

Ensure that all designs meet deterministic analysis requirements and assist in closing any identified gaps.

  • Interdisciplinary Coordination : Collaborate with other safety and analysis disciplines, including probabilistic safety assessment, hazard analysis, and other relevant areas, to ensure a comprehensive safety case.
  • Licensing Support : Conduct and present deterministic analysis to support licensing efforts, ensuring all submissions are prepared with the appropriate level of quality and precision.

Candidate Overview:

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Engineering, Maths, Physics or equivalent or significant relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in the production of deterministic analysis documentation including hazard identification, fault schedules and nuclear safety categorization of functions and classification of equipment.
  • Knowledge of PWR plant design and operation.
  • Experience in the use of deterministic analysis to support the design of a Nuclear Power Plant.

Pay and Benefits:

  • We anticipate a paying salary of between £40,000 to £60,000, a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
  • You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

  • Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
  • Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
