Mission & Job Duties

Mission & Main Tasks

• Explore strategic investment opportunities in innovative startups leveraging disruptive technologies to develop new products or business areas

• Identify and create the strategic fit, linking the core technology & business of the startups to Hyundai Motor Group needs

• Create new value for Hyundai Motor Group by executing strategic investment deals, expanding the portfolio, managing post-investment projects, and actualizing the strategic values of the investment

 

Roles & Responsibility

• Identify and evaluate innovative startups/ventures and the technology trends of interest to Hyundai Motor Group

• Lead investment deals within the European region, develop investment themes and deliver analysis reports to support strategic and financial goals of Hyundai Motor Group

• Collaborate closely with HQ Investment team, HQ Business Units and HQ R&D teams in the investment process (deal sourcing, post-investment management)

• Participate in due diligence process with both external counsels for legal due diligence and financial advisory for financial due diligence

• Support the portfolio´s business & technology development and explore the strategic value between Hyundai Motor Group and startups as a post-investment activity

• Manage VC funds in Europe

 

Requirements

Spirit

• Passion for the startup ecosystem and venture capital industry

• Ability to coherently present to R&D teams innovative startup technology and uniqueness

• Team player – work in small agile team that mutually works together

• 3+ years of professional experience at a Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) team, strategy consulting firm, Venture Capital (VC) firm, private equity or equivalent experience (experience in automotive industry preferred)

 

Education

• Engineering Management (“Wirtschaftsingenieur”), Engineering, MBA, technical based Bachelors or Master Degree preferred

 

Professional Skills

• Analytical skills to identify/review/evaluate emerging technologies, applications and new business models

• Ability to conduct financial analysis (various valuation methods, analyzing financial statements, financial modeling, DCF, etc.)

• Previous work experience in executing deals at a CVC/VC and carry out open innovation-related activities

 

Language Skills

• Good command of English language

• Other foreign language would be an advantage
