We have been retained by a Sovereign Wealth backed venture Capital Fund to find a Head of Finance to support the business in a crucial and wide ranging finance role.

It is important that as well as having a technical proficiency, this individual is commercial and able to build and manage relationships internally and externally.

The business is very well funded and has a large initial fund and is focused on investing in early stage high impact technology startups capable of making a true difference.

This individual will be key to overseeing the financial operations of the fund. Overall they will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, and analysis.

Ideally this individual will have a solid background grounded in the PE and ideally venture capital world.

They will need a track record of being handson and operating in a fast paced and dynamic environment.

Core responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the finance function including accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts
  • Ongoing monitoring of performance including variance analysis, flash forecasting and financial insight to senior management.
  • Conduct due diligence and analysis on potential investments.
  • Support the investment team with relevant financial modelling.
  • Provide financial insight to inform the investment process.
  • Coordinate annual audits.
  • Implement required and relevant internal controls.
  • Manage the cash flow process and planning.
  • Manage banking relationships.

Required skills and experience:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA Qualified or equivalent
  • CFA qualification would be advantageous
  • Minimum 8+ years experience in finance with minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar role within VC / PE.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
  • Experience working with and creating risk frameworks.
  • Proficient with MS Excel and relevant accounting software and financial insight software.
  • Exception communication and interpersonal skills are key
  • Experienced with implementing and managing a financial controls environment.
  • Experienced with identifying and implementing process improvements.
