The Chair of Organization, Technology Management and Entrepreneurship (Professor Caroline Haussler) at the University of Passau invites applications for the position of Graduate Research Assistant to start at the earliest convenience, but no later than 1 September 2024.

The successful candidate will work on the DFG project a Multiple Competition in Higher Educational under a three-year, fixed-term 0.75 full-time equivalent contract, with the option of renewal.

Remuneration is in accordance with pay grade 13 of the German public-sector collective agreement, TV-L; the salary step depends on your qualifications and experience.

The project

The project in the field "Science of Science" investigates how different forms of competition shape the behaviour of researchers and ultimately influence the nature of research, collaboration and research progress.

It is part of the DFG Research Unit (FOR 5234) a Multiple Competition in Higher Educational , which consists of members from numerous universities and research institutions.

Within the framework of the interdisciplinary network (economics, business administration and sociology), coordinated support is provided for early career researchers, offering attractive conditions for your doctoral studies.

Person specification:

  • You are highly motivated and have a university master's degree with excellent grades in economics or a field relevant to our research (e.g. computer science, information systems, statistics or sociology).
  • You have very good analytical skills and a keen interest in questions related to the "Science of Science".
  • You are willing to tackle complex real-world problems with analytical methods and to learn or perfect new research methods.
  • Prior experience with empirical-quantitative research methods would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work in a team, open-mindedness, and the motivation to work on a research project independently and conscientiously.
  • Must be willing to conduct interdisciplinary research as a member of the DFG Research Unit â Multiple Competition in Higher Educational.
  • Willingness to proactively participate in the development of ambitious quantitative empirical research projects and to publish in leading academic journals.
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
  • Knowledge of German would be advantageous but is not a requirement.
