Responsibilities

We have built a number of products at Reedsy, including a marketplace (https://reedsy.com), the world's largest short story contest (https://reedsy.com/writing), and a book discovery platform (https://reedsy.com/discovery). We have millions of users and always looking to reach more. You will:

  • Design data models and pipelines to preprocess data for analytics and integration in our warehouse;
  • Work with our developers to build our data infrastructure;
  • Create dashboards and put in place KPIs to monitor our performance;
  • Conduct data analysis (eg. to optimize liquidity on our marketplace) and communicate results to drive business decisions;
  • Work with different functions in our organization that have specific data insight needs (eg. our marketing team for lead acquisition and growth);
  • Improve funnel conversion tracking through our entire ecosystem;
  • Proactively find insights that help us make better products;
  • Use Machine Learning and NLP (eg. to categorize projects submitted on the marketplace);
  • Manage our data stack and contribute to the development of self-service analytics to improve data access across the company.

Main Requirements: Your have 5+ years of technical experience with: Using query language (SQL and variations) Data warehouse (BigQuery, Redshift, etc.) Google Analytics BI tools (Metabase, Data Studio, etc.) Data visualization Data mining (web crawling, open data, parsing) Scripting and programming (Python, R, Ruby) Machine learning, ideally with some knowledge about Deep Learning And maybe more importantly:

Communication: Strong data storytelling skills with the ability to communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders. Common sense and critical thinking: you can break down the problem and find answers with data. You are comfortable with developing and suggesting metrics in line with the company's objectives.

You go beyond the numbers and think critically about the "why". Experience working remotely and with a fast-growing startup.
