The Enterprising Communities team supports the development of ambitious social enterprises and community-led organizations across the South of Scotland.

We are looking to recruit a Community Development Advisor to join the team to support communities in :
- Boosting Community Capacity & Confidence
- Supporting Community-Led Regeneration and & Enterprise Development

What you’ll be doing?
As a Community Development Adviser, you’ll be the first point of contact for social entrepreneurs, community-led enterprises, and social enterprises at every stage of the enterprising journey, from start-up to established organizations.
Dealing with a wide range of enquiries, you will provide business development advice and hands-on support, as well as signposting clients to complementary expertise within the sector.
That means you could be helping clients work through their early ideas, supporting the development of strategic vision and viable business plans through to investment readiness, advising on community asset acquisitions and development projects, developing sustainable funding strategies or new product / service design and delivery.
In each case, you’ll listen, guide and advise clients on how best to move forward, and help them to develop their vision, mission and strategy.
Whether it’s funding, developing the capacity of client organizations, referrals to specialists or assessment of business needs, you’ll provide a wealth of information and expertise.
The skills and experience you’ll need:
- Ideally, you’ll have extensive experience as a social enterprise advisor, business development coach or consultant, and / or you may have managed a social enterprise.
- You’ll also have a successful track record in supporting organizations from start-up onwards to generate their own sustainable commercial income and knowledge of inclusive and democratic business models.
- You’ll be a natural relationship builder who can forge consultative partnerships with organizations and their senior leaders.
- Commercially focused and educated to degree level SCQF Level 7 (or equivalent), you’ll have great people and facilitation skills, analytical and financial acumen, project appraisal experience and writing skills.

We operate a hybrid working model balancing working from home with attendance at the office to meet the needs of our clients, our teams and our employees.
To enable you to do your job to the best of your ability, IT equipment will be delivered to your home address to make the onboarding process as seamless as possible.
This role is full time and permanent, although we will consider alternative working patterns.

Clients are based across the South of Scotland and this role requires extensive travel across the region to meet our client and organization needs.
