Company Overview: Three Dragons Press is an independent publishing STARTUP focused on amplifying diverse voices and promoting inclusive storytelling. We are committed to producing cross-cultural fiction and non-fiction collections, empowering emerging writers globally, and bridging cultural gaps through storytelling. Our first anthology project is focused on global voices and we are excited to expand our team with an experienced editor to ensure the highest quality of work. Seeking full-time team member for late autumn.
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Editor to join our growing team.
The Editor will play a crucial role in refining and shaping the written work of emerging authors, ensuring that each manuscript meets the high editorial standards required for publication. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about cross-cultural literature, supports diverse voices, and enjoys working in a collaborative, dynamic environment, and wants to develop their own editorial voice in a STARTUP. Future position growth could become Editorial Director. This position will be part developmental and coaching early writers.
Seeking EU citizen who has attended a German University, graduating in the past five years Or currently in an affiliated role with a German University. From a diverse background, but highly fluent in English.
Responsibilities:
●Edit fiction and non-fiction manuscripts to ensure they meet the company's style, tone,
and quality.
●Work closely with authors to provide feedback, guidance, and suggestions on improving
structure, plot, character development, and more.
●Proofread manuscripts to catch grammatical errors, inconsistencies, and formatting
issues.
●Ensure that all content is accurate, clear, and accessible to a broad, international
audience.
●Collaborate with the publishing team to establish publication schedules and workflows.
●Collaborate with Marketing Director for promotional material on book projects and book
launches.
●Help maintain the company's editorial guidelines and standards.
●Provide feedback to authors on content improvements, offering constructive criticism
while maintaining a supportive approach.
●Work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
Qualifications:
●Proven experience as an editor, particularly in the commercial fiction and non-fiction genres. Will include literary and genre-bending speculative projects. (outside of hard
Sci-Fi and Fantasy) (editorial assistants will be considered)
●Familiarity with publishing tools and platforms (e.g., Word, Google Docs, Adobe
Acrobat).
●Excellent knowledge of grammar, syntax, and style.
●Strong communication skills and the ability to give constructive feedback.
●A passion for cross-cultural stories and a commitment to inclusive storytelling.
●Experience in working with diverse, international teams or authors is a plus.
●Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
●Fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
●Ability to become a dragon a plus.
