Description of the position

To support our growth we are looking for a talented and experienced sales professional to lead the growth of our Earth Observation business unit. Reporting directly to the Head of Market Development, the Business Unit Manager will play a key role in identifying and executing growth strategy, drive business development, and close complex, multi-million deals.

  • Define the market strategy and vertical segmentation of your business unit
  • Build market intelligence and manage the full sales pipeline until deal closure
  • Manage and coach a team of talented sales engineers towards closing new business opportunities

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Define the market strategy and vertical segmentation of your business unit
  • Build market intelligence and manage the full sales pipeline until deal closure
  • Manage and coach a team of talented sales engineers towards closing new business opportunities
  • Build market positions by identifying, defining, negotiating, and closing complex end-to-end space mission business deals, from standalone space missions to satellite constellation deals.
  • Contribute to design, develop, and manage the Earth Observation value propositions and related marketing collaterals.
  • Interface with both engineering and project management team supporting bid management and product development.
  • Work with both technical and C-level counterparts with the customer community.
  • Conduct presentations, set up client demonstrations and visit client sites.
  • While focusing on commercial sector opportunities, further leverage financing instruments and public-private partnership programs.
  • Lead RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs efforts by writing business proposals.
  • Always be on the look to learn new things and share them within the company.

Skills, attitude, competencies and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business.
  • At least 3 years of relevant sales experience in the Earth Observation / Remote Sensing, Science, or Space Technology development sectors.
  • Equipped with a strategic outlook, tactical capability, and excellent negotiating & closing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, managers, and directors.
  • Ability to work under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in structured or virtual teams.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Driven, highly motivated, and committed to results.
  • Fluent English, both spoken and written.

Nice to have

  • Experience in structuring and closing complex business deals in the satellite industry.
  • Experience in managing and driving sales teams.
  • Fluency in German, French and/or Spanish a plus.
