Proton therapy is the most precise radiotherapy using high-energy particles to treat cancer and has the potential to become the superior cancer treatment for the future.
However, today there is still no real-time dose verification system commercially available for proton therapy and the treatment delivery relies on simulations and modellings. The full potential of proton therapy can still not be utilized.
TERAPET is a CERN-start-up, founded by two CERN physicists and a leading radio-oncologist from Geneva. Our dose verification system for proton therapy offers more precision for cancer treatment: by verifying correct dosage and treatment location it avoids healthy tissue damage.
