Towns and cities around the world produce numerous kinds of raw materials such as unsold inventories from local restaurants or bakeries and fresh products no longer suitable for supermarkets or local grocery shelves due to shortcoming best-before dates. In addition, they also generate other products such as plastics, tires, paper, etc: these too most often end up thrown away when they could instead be reprocessed and upcycled into new products in an eco-friendly way. Although many alternatives exist, most are single-streamed and specialized, meaning they miss large-scale effects and have minimal optimization possibilities.
