Gendo, an AI-driven platform that enables architects and designers to rapidly generate high-quality visualisations from sketches, 2D drawings, or text prompts, has raised €5.1 million in a Seed funding round. The funding, co-led by PT1 and LEA Partners with participation from Concept Ventures and Koro Capital, follows Gendo’s initial pre-seed funding of €1 million just four months ago.
Founded in 2022 by architectural designer George Proud and software engineer Will Jones, Gendo’s platform allows users to transform ideas into intricate, realistic visualisations within minutes, enabling architects to reduce the time and cost associated with traditional rendering processes. Gendo’s browser-based AI solution lets users generate and customise images quickly, with an average time of just eight minutes per visualisation—over 100 times faster than conventional methods.
Gendo has attracted over 3,500 users worldwide, who have collectively generated more than 50,000 images for 5,000 projects. Early adopters include renowned firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects, KPF, David Chipperfield Architects, and Benoy. The company also announced that Patrik Schumacher, principal at Zaha Hadid Architects, will join as an Advisor, bringing his expertise in architecture and AI to help shape Gendo’s enterprise product and market approach.
George Proud, CEO & Co-founder of Gendo, said: “It’s been a whirlwind since we launched the platform and announced our pre-seed funding in July. We are huge believers in bespoke Generative AI tools that are designed for specific use cases – the reception to Gendo has been a huge validator of that belief. It’s brilliant to welcome PT1, LEA Partners and Koro Capital, to the Gendo journey. All have deep sector expertise and immense value to offer. And we are thrilled that Concept has doubled down on their commitment to us and our vision. This new tranche of investment will allow us to keep this scaling trajectory going and put Gendo at the heart of how all visualisations are created.”
Investor support and strategic vision
Gendo’s Seed funding will support the expansion of its AI capabilities and the development of features aimed at enterprise clients, including customised workflows and enterprise licensing models. The platform’s growing community of users, including top architecture firms, underscores its value in the competitive field of architectural visualisation.
Patrik Schumacher, principal at Zaha Hadid Architects noted: “I am excited about Gendo bringing high-quality professional AI to architects’ fingertips. The gains in terms of both productivity and creative versatility are a step-change for our discipline.”
Nikolas Samios, Managing Partner at PT1 added: “What stands out about Gendo—apart from the stellar team—is the fact that they have developed an application leveraging AI advancements in image generation, customised for the architectural sector. Gendo’s industry-specific workflows perfectly ensure product-market fit in architectural visualisation.”
