The Berlin-based travel AI startup YGO Trips has successfully secured €2.5 million in funding. The funding round was led by GetAway Group, a leading specialist in themed short trips, and has the full support of HomeToGo co-founders Dr. Patrick Andrae (CEO) and Wolfgang Heigl (CSO), as well as GetAway Group’s CEO Jan Seifried. German leading startup investors Felix Jahn (founder and former CEO of McMakler), Ralf Usbeck, Kiana Mardi from Lucy Capital, and Expedite Ventures participated in the funding round as well.
The investment backs the strong progress YGO Trips has made in the field of AI development since its founding in January 2023. According to the startup, the tourism industry is largely run on outdated technologies, and that is why they want to take it into the AI era.
Their pitch is to offer a new way to book, experience, and visualize holiday packages – i.e. tailored to a new generation. YGO say they are the only player in the industry that enables users to combine any experiences (like festivals, concerts, retreats, etc.) with flights and hotels and book it directly with their platform.
Jan Seifried, CEO of GetAway Group, said: “The combination of deep AI expertise and comprehensive tourism knowledge makes YGO Trips an outstanding player in the market. I am convinced that YGO Trips can sustainably transform the industry.”
With the fresh capital, YGO Trips plans to further expand its leading position in AI within the travel industry and accelerate the company’s growth. YGO Trips’ proprietary AI revolutionizes travel planning by combining natural language and visual elements. The AI can customize trips individually and, thanks to an extensive network of partners, handle complex bookings in real-time based on prices, availability, and user preferences. According to its founders, YGO Trips’ innovative AI offers an intuitive and user-friendly experience, free to use, and ensures fair travel prices.
Julian Kögel, CEO of YGO Trips, added: “We are thrilled by the trust and support we have received from our esteemed investors. This strengthens our goal to revolutionize the tourism industry with innovative AI technology.”
