Berlin-based konfetti bags €2 million for its marketplace for team events and workshops

Berlin-based konfetti bags €2 million to help digitize team events and workshops, bringing teams closer together. The SaaS startup now plans to expand.

Whilst teams have shifted to hybrid and remote forms of working, keeping teams united and growing with a strong culture, has become a challenge for team leaders.

Hosting team events and workshops has been a popular way to bring employees together and strengthen personal identification within companies. However, booking and finding these events has remained a manual process and haven’t become fully aligned with the digital world.

Berlin-based konfetti is adding some sparkle to the team events space and has just secured new investment to expand.

Funding details

  • €2 million raised in seed funding
  • The funding was led by Speedinvest
  • Peak, Angel Invest, and the Atomico Angel Fund also participated

Launched in 2021 by Wolfgang Mauer and Tobias Fezer, konfetti offers a digital platform and marketplace to find and book local courses, events and workshops. It lets users find things like cocktail classes, team-building events, and more. For workshop providers, the Berlin-based platform enables them to enhance sales and marketing functions, as well as streamline business management.

Tobias Fezer: “Paper and pen, phone and email are no longer up to date and customer-oriented. We solve exactly that and by integrating the konfetti checkout, course providers can extend their website with a powerful online store.”

The SaaS solution enables suppliers to both manage their business and increase sales and marketing efforts. It takes the whole admin process to a place of digitisation and automation, which is much smoother for businesses. In addition, financial management (like billing and invoicing) can be done on the platform, is fully automated, tax compliant, and reduces unnecessary coordination with the company’s own tax advisor.

Dominic Mölzl, who runs one of the best cocktail bars in Munich, Germany, says: “Since February 2022, I have offered cocktail classes in my bar. In addition to the platform, I also sell my events through the konfetti checkout on my website. And what can I say? It couldn’t work better. konfetti is the best solution for local class providers.”

While there is a range of different marketplaces and booking platforms now available, there’s been a lack of one that tailors to team events and workshops in a local setting – but it’s a huge market. Berlin-based konfetti is planning to tap into it on a European level.

Senior Communications Manager, Juliane Leupold, of Tinder: “For us, as a team spread across Europe, the digital cocktail class was a real highlight. We had a lot of fun with the instructor and everyone enjoyed the espresso martini.”

Already, more than 750 partners in Germany and Austria use konfetti and market more than 3,000 classes and events via the platform. Users can now find and book workshops in more than 250 cities.

Wolfgang Mauer: “There are already about 70 categories, including cooking classes, baking workshops, pottery classes, painting classes, cocktail workshops, and tastings.”

With this new funding, the team will add more features to the platform and fuel expansion.

Speedinvest Partner, Julian Blessin: “We are convinced that konfetti has created the ideal platform to book local classes and set a new standard for both guests and workshop providers. In a short period of time, Tobias and Wolfgang have built an impressive portfolio of workshop partners and a truly value-adding SaaS-enabled marketplace that is benefiting both customers and local providers.”
