Launches, Partnerships & Expansions: Interesting startup milestones last week

The European startup ecosystem is full of interesting and exciting news, twists and turns. This week, vegan dog food is on the menu, restaurants are going tech-first and eco-friendly mobility could be the new employee benefit of choice.

Launches and Expansions

  • Humaans, the employee management platform, has announced the launch of its new product Tables to help organizations manage employee data at scale. The new product is the first of its kind, giving a bird’s eye view of all employee data points and organizational structure in a single place.
  • Plum, the smart European money app, launched in five new European countries: Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Greece and Cyprus. Plum customers in these markets can now connect their bank accounts to the app. With its unique automated tools, Plum supports people to manage their finances, helping them fight money inertia when it comes to making smart financial decisions.
  • Digital insurer Getsafe expanded its European presence by launching in France. The company relies on a flexible and digital offer, enabling in just a few clicks and in real-time, customers to file claims, change their insurance coverage, or clarify their concerns via the app.
  • Bitpanda launched Bitpanda Technology Solutions, a scalable Investing-as a-service infrastructure available in Europe and globally. Already serving 20+ million customers with its initial White Label API, Bitpanda Technologies Solution is now adding features, asset classes and several regulatory licences to its offering.
  •  Encord, the platform for data-centric computer vision, released Encord Active, a free open source industry agnostic toolkit that enables machine learning (ML) engineers and data scientists to understand and improve their training data quality and help boost model performance.
  • Munich-based robotics startup Sewts has just launched its first product. Its VELUM system brings robotics into industrial laundries. The system is now in operation at Greif Textile Mietsysteme in Wolfratshausen, where it closes a significant gap in automation.

Acquisitions and Partnerships

  • Zenchef, a Paris-based restaurant tech leader that develops technology solutions for the restaurant industry, and Formitable, an Amsterdam-based growth platform to improve guest experience through loyalty and reservation solutions, announced that both companies will join forces, creating a European leader in restaurant tech.
  • Rest Less, a digital community, advocate and financial services platform for people aged 50+ announced the acquisition of Mirthy, an award-winning digital platform offering online events, classes and content aimed at reimagining retirement.
  • SITA is innovating in partnership with travel identity company Zamna Technologies. Zamna’s solution uses a decentralized blockchain-based model to transform how passenger data, such as passport, visa, and health information, is verified and handled, bringing security, ease, and efficiency benefits for travellers, airlines, airports and governments.
  • Boyden, a premier leadership and talent advisory firm is now the ‘technical partner’ for Winmark, a senior-level networking organisation headquartered in the UK that ‘inspires the global C-Suite to create value for all’. The partnership gives members access to board-level advice in organisational transformation, digital change and people-focused strategies.
  • Eco-friendly employee mobility benefit platform Sodexo has partnered with ummadum. Now, companies in Germany and Austria can easily issue digital mobility vouchers as an incentive for an environmentally friendly way to work. In addition, Sodexo supports companies with ummadum in the implementation of the EU taxonomy requirements in the coming year.
  • CLARK Group, a global insurtech, announced the integration of British startup Anorak. The transaction enables the unicorn to grow further and strengthens its presence in the important UK market.

Milestones and Insights

  • Vegan dog food brand Omni launched a crowdfunding campaign and hit its £400K  target in just 15 minutes after going live. Omni has seen 30% average month-on-month revenue growth since launching in May 2021 with over 70% of its customers on subscription plans
  • Berlin-based Mika, which is a digital oncology platform leveraging AI-powered tech to provide personalised cancer therapy support, is now available in the UK app store.
