Decelera, the world’s first startup decelerator is now accepting applications for its 2023 programme. Giving 20 impact-driven startups 10 days to breathe, focus and grow, the programme is a chance to prepare for future growth on the island of Menorca. Apply today!

Across Europe, startups and entrepreneurs have a variety of accelerator programmes that they can access. They aim to prepare teams for fast growth, giving participants the tools, know-how and networks to supercharge success.

Decelera offers something different – a decelerator programme. This year, in its 9th edition, the firm is looking for 20 European impact-driven startups to take part in the programme, offering 10 days of learning, focus and network building on the idyllic island of Menorca.

The 10-day cost and equity-free programme will be held on the island of Menorca, declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.  During the 10 days of the program, the startup founders will coexist with international mentors such as Philippe Gelis (co-founder of Kantox), Jason Eckenroth (founder of ShipCompliant.com), LJ Erwin (ex-Andreessen Horowitz), as well as investors and members of the growing Decelera Community.

At the end of the programme, the top startups will be eligible for a €150k-€300k convertible note, and, a potential follow-on investment of up to €2 million.

Over the years, participating startups in the Decelerator (counting 146 teams) have reached total investments of over €275 million and 50% of the alumni have raised funding.

Alumni include successful companies such as Mercaux (2019), Electronic ID (2017), Senseye (2019) and AllRead (2021) to name a few.

What’s included?

The decelerator programme brings together startups for 10 unforgettable days in the Balearic archipelago. Participants will spend their days focusing on their company’s challenges, getting tools to prepare for future growth and sharing important experiences (both 1:1 and group) with investors, mentors and founders. This is in addition to:

  • Food and lodging for up to two members for 10 days on the island of Menorca
  • 1:1 meetings with experienced founders from all over the world
  • 1:1 meetings with early-stage investors
  • Excursions and activities throughout the island (yes, there is a good chance you’ll find yourself on a boat)
  • Inspirational talks from industry leaders
  • Two deep-dive workstations where you get roundtable feedback on your startups core challenges
  • An unmatched sense of community and belonging

Who’s it for?

To take part in Decelera Menorca 2023, startups should have a high technological component. They also need to be European, and in the seed stage, and they must have a clear purpose aligned with at least one of the 17 UN sustainability goals. The top 20 will be selected by the Decelera International selection committee – made up of serial entrepreneurs, founding partners and advisors

Over the course of the program, Decelera works hand in hand with the startups to define their goals and refine their core competencies before pitching them to investors. The program concludes with a ‘Demo Day’ where the founders present their startups to an audience of investors
