On the 6th of December, Vienna will play host to the Grand Final of the BoostUp! Bridge 2022 event. The event is an exciting culmination of EIT Manufacturing’s annual pan-European open innovation competition for startups providing real solutions to real challenges in the manufacturing industry.

EIT Manufacturing is on a mission to bring European stakeholders focused on manufacturing together, creating an innovation ecosystem that can add value to European products, processes and services and inspire the creation of globally competitive and sustainable manufacturing.

BoostUp! Bridge has been running annually as a programme to support exciting innovation and fresh ideas in the manufacturing industry, aiming to support the disruptive entrepreneurs and startups that are providing solutions to corporate challenges in this sphere. 

Taking place on December 6th in Vienna, the Final Event brings together startups, stakeholders and key players in the industry to connect, share ideas and shape the future of manufacturing. Startups will have the chance to pitch their solutions to an expert jury, with the winners receiving a generous prize package to supercharge business plans. 

The winners will this year receive €30k cash prize for the implementation of their solution at the end user, and six months of tailored EIT Manufacturing support providing access to market and finance support. 

The Challenges

As part of the event, EIT Manufacturing has put together 5 core challenges. 

Pierer Innovation Challenge

As part of the PIERER Mobility Group, the purpose of this challenge is to drive forward digital transformation in the PIERER Mobility Group’s sister companies along various thematic streams. The aim is to find and develop promising technologies and solutions that help the group to manufacture high-quality performance products, enrich the customer experience and increase the efficiency of the various corporate processes.

Ford Challenge

Ford is a family company with a global presence. Bringing value to customers for 117 years, the company knows a thing or two about adapting to and leading change. It’s constantly evolving to focus on services, experiences and software as well as vehicles. Now, as we step into an electrified future, the firm is helping to build a better world, enabling everyone to roam and pursue their dreams.

Prima Additive Challenge

A division of the Prima Industrie Group, Prima Additive is operating in the AM sector. The organisation has created a dedicated Application Center, their Advanced Laser Center in Turin, where they can work closely with their customers and guide them along the entire process of adopting additive manufacturing in their company. Prima Additive has launched an industrial challenge for the development of an AI-Based Data Analytics tool to optimize process parameters and support a preventive maintenance approach. 

Mechanische Fertigung Radeberg Challenge 

Operating for over 25 years in the production of sheet metal housing and sheet metal components for industry, MF Radeberg is hunting for solutions that can enable manufacturing and office-based order management processes to increase reaction speed, transparency, and become more efficient. 

Universal Robots Challenge  

Universal Robots aims to change how people work and live around the globe by empowering their ideas and dreams with automation. Advanced tools, and their easy-to-use robot arms are used by companies and organizations of all sizes to help and address market volatility. This challenge is about the physical and logical connectivity of a cobot and a CNC machine, looking for solutions that will simplify the existing process of setting up an automation workcell.
