Barcelona-based Lodgify lands €30 million as vacation rental market heats up

Traveltech startup Lodgify has just raised €30 million for its vacation rental software as the sector continues to grow. The Barcelona-based team are now planning to ramp up global growth, giving hosts enhanced tools to boost their vacation rental business.

The travel sector has been enjoying a year of impressive and sustained growth – and it shows just how resilient the travel tech innovators and startups have been over the recent years. The market is now witnessing an exciting period, full of innovation and catering to a renewed appetite for travel, adventure and exploration.

One of the key trends in this space has been the rise of popularity in vacation rentals – allowing travellers to book local stays for their vacation, workcations or even their digital nomad life. It means that those who have vacation rentals, have more travellers to target, and also more competition in the market.

Becoming successful in this space, and standing out from the crowd, relies on being heard and seen in the digital sphere, and with the digitalisation of management tools, hosts and vacation rental businesses can grow by tapping into an international market. Helping them to do this is Lodigy – and it’s had a big year of growth, now raising a fresh €30 million.

Lodgify’s CEO and co-founder Dennis Klett: “This is great news for our customers! Lodgify is a customer-first company, and we will invest all the funds in product innovation and expanding our service offering to help our customers achieve their business goals.”

Funding details

The Series B investment of €30 million was led by Octopus Ventures with participation from Bonsai Partners, Aldea Ventures and ICF (Institut Català de Finances) as well as existing investors, Intermedia Vermögensverwaltung and Nauta Capital.

Founded in 2012, Lodgify has been pioneering the digitalisation of the vacation rental market, and now has grown to an international team of more than 170 people and 40 different nationalities in the heart of Barcelona – one of Europe’s biggest travel hubs.

Uthishtan Ranjan from Octopus Ventures and Andrés de la Morena from Bonsai Partners have joined Lodgifyʼs board of directors.

Uthish Ranjan, Principal at Octopus Ventures: “Lodgify has carved out a leading position for itself in the overlooked SME vacation rental market. We were impressed with their product leadership and customer focus, which has come through in the impressive growth they’ve helped their customers achieve, even through the pandemic period. We’re looking forward to partnering with Lodgify’s experienced leadership team to execute its growth plans, which include an exciting pipeline of new product initiatives.”

SaaS for the travel industry

Lodgify is an all-in-one vacation rental software that empowers owners and property managers to easily create their own vacation rental websites and accept online bookings.  With its SaaS platform, property owners can manage all reservations from one place and synchronize property data with their booking channels.

Andrés de la Morena from Bonsai Partners: “Their ability to support both individual hosts and fast-growing property management businesses to generate more bookings and save time via automation with their comprehensive software suite is impressive.”

The platform includes a website builder that allows vacation rental hosts to easily build their own website and accept direct bookings and payments without requiring any tech skills and seamless API integrations with all the main vacation rental channels including Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com. It makes it quick and easy for any vacation rental host to go digital and reap the benefits of it.

Lodgify will use the funds to accelerate global expansion, boost product growth and expand customer support. Lodgify’s mission is to empower any host or vacation rental business worldwide to get started and grow business through technology. This investment will help fuel the expanding ecosystem of tools and services that both small and large hospitality firms increasingly depend on to professionalize operations and scale up.
