Azowo raises €10 million to power the next generation of connected sustainable mobility

Stuttgart-based Azowo has just raised €10 million in its mission to power the transition towards sustainable mobility. The startup aims to fix the broken link between mobility, automotive OEM and energy data, making the e-mobility generation closer than ever before.

Across Europe, the way our cities move and we move within them has been changing. From scooters to electric cars and shared mobility options, we are now zipping and scooting around town in more sustainable, more convenient ways. It’s part of a change in cities that reflects that our cities are growing and city dwellers need convenient, quick ways to move around. And it needs to be sustainable and with minimal environmental impact.

Since 2016, mobility cloud provider Azowo has been helping fuel this transition to electric vehicles. Now, the startup has raised fresh funding to power the next generation of connected mobility on a global level.

Funding details

The newly-announced Series A round of €10 million was led by AEW Energie AG. Start-up BW Innovation Fonds, MBG Baden Württemberg and Project A Ventures also participated.

Azowo’s products are already used by renowned industry players such as Munich Airport, Wacker Neuson, SwissEcar and Sparkasse. Now, the startup plans to expand across Europe and the USA.

Connected, sustainable mobility

Founded in 2016, Azowo’s software platform connects real-time vehicle data to deliver better mobility services.

While smart mobility solutions are being adopted in cities worldwide, the process is currently being held back by the insufficient exchange of vehicle data between the individual providers of the mobility system – vehicle manufacturers, car sharing providers and public transport operators. It’s made the mass adoption of smart mobility an economic challenge. The mobility transformation towards electric vehicles needs cost-effective, intelligent data and software systems to guarantee business continuity and growth.

This is what Azowo aims to achieve by better connecting mobility, automotive OEM and energy data into one platform.

Albert Pescheck, CEO and Co-Founder of Azowo: “We are uniquely positioned by offering a complete end-to-end mobility solution that enables our clients to build new game-changing mobility services for public and corporate use cases at a very high-quality level.“

Currently, the Stuttgart-based company offers its users (such as Munich Airport) use cases around connected car data, fleet management, fleet transition and analytics, corporate and public carsharing, multi-modal mobility including public transport, bicycles and scooters as well as charge management.

The Azowo platform directly connects major automotive OEMs with over 100 mobility service API’s enabling shared, connected, electric and autonomous business processes, maximizing efficiency and sustainability across all industries such as real estate, aerospace, public sector, construction, energy, financial services and manufacturing.

Marc Ritter, CEO of AEW Energie AG: “Mobility-as-a-service has huge growth potential. AZOWO has a matured technology in place to offer integrated mobility solutions to a large variety of customer groups. For instance, AZOWO already successfully provides the platform for Swiss E-Car, a national e-car sharing service of which AEW is a co-founder.”

The new funding will be used for international expansion in Europe and the US as well as to support product innovation, sales and marketing efforts.
