Munich-based Workerbase lifts €10 million to enable a more agile manufacturing industry

SaaS startup Workerbase has just raised €10 million to develop its platform that is enabling a more dynamic and agile manufacturing industry. The Munich-based team now plans to further build out the platform and help manufacturers tackle challenging times.

The manufacturing industry is under a lot of pressure at the moment. From disrupted supply chains and chip shortages to the energy crisis and rising costs. It’s also an industry that relies on processes being as precise as possible – things change in real-time and machines, people and systems all need to be on the same page, and able to adapt at the same moment.

Aiming to help manufacturing companies increase efficiency and flexibility, and thus optimize processes, is Munich-based startup Workerbase. The startup has now raised a new funding round and is set to further develop its offering.

Funding details

Workerbase has now raised €10 million in Series A funding, gaining an eye-catching cohort of backers.

New investors Almaz Capital, Porsche Ventures and Bayern Kapital are now supporting the SaaS startup and will accelerate the next phase of growth.

Previously, Point Nine had invested.

Patrick Huke, Head of Porsche Ventures Europe & Israel: “Digital transformation has been a part of the production environment for some time, and will continue to have a significant impact in the future. Companies must remain flexible in order to be able to modify and integrate improvements at any time. Workerbase has the potential to disrupt the manufacturing software industry by helping companies to digitize manual processes, and react quickly in a constantly changing production environment. We look forward to supporting the Workerbase team as an investor and partner in the future.”

More flexibility, more productivity

Founded in 2017 by Norman Hartmann, Thorsten Krüger and Hamid Reza Monadjem,  Workerbase aims to support large companies by digitizing their processes and production. By doing so, the company better connects people, machines and processes enabling things to run much smoother and more streamlined.

Monika Steger, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital: “Workerbase has developed a smart software platform that contributes significantly to solving fundamental problems in the manufacturing industry. It eliminates lengthy process structures, and identifies discrepancies at an earlier stage — this strengthens the efficiency and flexibility of the manufacturing process.”

The Munich-based company uses a specially developed software platform that prevents production-related problems by analyzing inefficiencies in processes as they emerge. When issues pop up, the platform’s algorithm analyzes employee skills, location, and availability in real-time to assemble a flexible task force to fix it — greatly improving efficiency and effectiveness.

CEO Norman Hartmann: “Our key mission with the Series A funding is to make manufacturing processes more dynamic. Static manufacturing processes and systems are failing in the current environment. Workerbase combines human and machine intelligence to create a fully dynamic production environment based on real-time information. We call it Dynamic Process Execution (DPE).”

The new funding will be used to increase the capabilities of the platform, helping manufacturing companies of all types and locations to remain competitive and become more efficient.

Aniruddha Nazre, Partner at Almaz Capital: “Workerbase is transforming production processes by breaking them up into small chunks of individual activities. Their Dynamic Process Execution software offers completely new opportunities to increase operational flexibility. We see a huge market need for this type of software in the market and tremendous growth opportunities.”

Hubert Aiwanger, Minister of Economics of the Bavarian State: “With the Growth Fund Bavaria 2, we have been supporting young Bavarian high-tech companies in the more mature development phase for two years. Workerbase is one of many examples of a technology that originated in Bavaria, where strong local manufacturing know-how is translated into an innovative product. We need many start-ups like this in Bavaria. For it is precisely they that contribute to strengthening our business location. The growth fund is important and reliable start-up financing”.
