Travel is back, and new trends, innovations and alliances are popping up everywhere! Today, the online publications FutureTravel and TravelThink announced they will work together to form a leading source of news and insights on innovation and trends in the travel & tourism industry. From today onwards, they are teaming up to improve their content output and leverage a combined/global reach via FutureTravel.com and its weekly newsletter.
TravelThink, founded in 2006, is an online communication outlet created by Dr. Javier González-Soria y Moreno de la Santa. Through its eNews focus, the brand has sought to increase awareness of the important influence of tech and innovation in the travel and tourism space. At its height it had a community following of around 18k people, including many executives from the tourism sector, investors and marketing and communications professionals. Dr. Javier González-Soria is a Spanish entrepreneur and the Managing Partner of the Madrid-based VC firm TRAVEL TECH 1. He previously also served as Director for Google’s advertising business with travel companies in Spain & Portugal.
FutureTravel, part of Barcelona-based Menlo Media SL, is a B2B media & events brand that highlights and advocates the role of tech and innovation in travel and tourism. FutureTravel was launched in 2021 and is led by its Founding Editor Ana Metz. Menlo Media, together with its two flagship brands EU-Startups and FutureTravel, has become a leading media player in Europe’s innovation and startup ecosystem. Across websites, newsletters and social media channels, Menlo Media’s brands reach a monthly audience of over 400k people and the company hosts top-tier international events, such as the EU-Startups Summit and the upcoming FutureTravel Summit, which will take place on November 4th in Barcelona.
With this new partnership, the English edition of TravelThink will be merged with FutureTravel, with Javier González-Soria joining the editorial team of FutureTravel. This will give TravelThink’s curated content a global reach, leveraging FutureTravel’s growing audience, and also enriching the offering the platform has. A Spanish edition of TravelThink will continue to operate, addressing the Spanish and Latin American markets.
Thomas Ohr, founder and CEO of Menlo Media said: “We’re very happy to join forces with TravelThink and Javier González-Soria. During his impressive career, Javier has built an extensive network in the travel industry and his TravelThink eNews is regularly reaching the inboxes of thousands of relevant industry players. Together we will be able to reach an even wider audience of travel industry innovators and traveltech enthusiasts and keep them up to date with great content and weekly updates on travel startups and travel trends”
Javier González-Soria commented: “I’m excited by the opportunity to collaborate closely with the excellent team at Menlo Media and, together with FutureTravel, make Travelthink’s non-profit project, which I started so many years ago, even more relevant.”
By combining the reach of TravelThink and FutureTravel, the weekly FutureTravel newsletter will from now on reach an audience of around 22K people.
