Remote-first challenger university, Tomorrow’s Education, is on a mission to help learners build the skills they need to create a more sustainable future. The Berlin-based edtech company has raised €3.4 million to fuel this mission. The funding was led by Mediahuis Ventures.
Other investors include the leading European Education Fund Emerge Education and angel investors Verena Pausder, Celine Flores Willers, and Kai Roemmelt.
Founded in 2020, Tomorrow’s Education has created a mobile-first, personalised challenge-based learning system that enables people from anywhere in the world to gain a Professional Master’s degree in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Technology which is double-accredited in Europe and the US.
Christian Rebernik, co-founder of Tomorrow’s Education, explained: “We have developed a cutting-edge learning platform that offers a revolutionary approach to education. We believe in learning by doing rather than simply taking offline learning to an online platform. Our short, bite-sized 7 to15 minute long lessons are designed for students to learn while simultaneously making an impact in their personal ventures and careers. The challenge-based, remote-first learning method ensures that our students gain practical knowledge and real-world experience throughout their studies.”
The aim is to harness the power of online education to accelerate the transition to a sustainable society by educating and empowering the change-makers of tomorrow. The seed-stage startup was founded with the belief that an entrepreneurial mindset will allow leaders to create the technological solutions needed for a more sustainable future.
Having partnered with the WU Executive Academy since 2021, the young company is currently in the process of acquiring the accreditation for its own university – Tomorrow University of Applied Sciences. Future plans entail expanding the offering to include three distinct Bachelor’s degree programs: BA in Responsible Entrepreneurship, BA in Sustainable Product Management, and, BSc in Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Technologies.
Accessible via a mobile app, students from across the globe can embark on a flexible learning experience based on practical real-world challenges. The challenges are designed by impact-driven industry leaders from top companies such as Tier Mobility, Wandelbots, and Share.
Cédric Cops, Investment Lead Mediahuis Ventures stated: “The EdTech market not only offers attractive prospects and opportunities for growth, it also fits in with Mediahuis’ mission which is to provide independent news and information, thereby making a positive contribution to people and society. For this reason we support high-growth, cutting-edge startups that are leveraging emerging technologies to re-imagine the way people learn and work. Tomorrow’s Education is a very promising player, engaging students in a new kind of metaverse learning experience. We believe in its revolutionary approach to education and see potential for continued growth.”
