On the 28th-30th of April, we’re hosting the 7th edition of the EU-Startups Summit – this year as an online event. This 3-day event will give you the chance to (virtually) connect and network with over 1,500 participants, learn from around 70 expert speakers, listen to educational talks with internationally successful founders, and bite your nails through our exciting pitch competition.
Today we are excited to announce a new speaker John Kim, Co-founder & CEO of Sendbird. At the EU-Startups Summit, he will join us to share his insights from growing Sendbird into a leading user engagement platform, which landed $100 million (approx. €84.2 million) in Series C funding just a few days ago, having also achieved a valuation topping $1 billion recently (over €840 million).
John Kim is a serial entrepreneur, an engineer at heart, and an expert in the API economy and communications tech space. As the Co-founder and CEO of Sendbird, he has directed the company as it has grown into one of the leading user engagement platforms trusted by brands like Reddit, Delivery Hero, Carousell, Headspace, and Hinge. Sendbird customers can quickly and easily embed rich real-time chat, voice, and video experiences into their app to build meaningful connections with users and between users. This could be connecting drivers and consumers in a timely fashion to reduce cancellations for a delivery app, helping buyers get their questions answered from sellers to increase transactions in a digital marketplace, or increasing engagement between users in an online community. The platform has over 150M MAUs from over 50 countries operating in industries ranging from marketplaces, on-demand services, and online communities to gaming, live video streaming, and healthcare.
At the EU-Startups Summit, John will join us to share his experience of growing Sendbird into a market-leading user engagement platform, building a team of 260+ worldwide, and will discuss how the availability of richer APIs for entrepreneurs is spurring innovation across industries from marketplaces to gaming to healthcare.
