This year’s holiday season will look a little different, no doubt – with virtual parties and reunions instead of the usual family and friends in-person gatherings. But this should not prevent us from sending Christmas cheer through well-thought-out and carefully selected gifts.

Gymshark – For the fitness-obsessed and active people in your life, nothing says holiday cheer than comfortable yet supportive workout clothes from Gymshark. Known for their gym hoodies, seamless leggings and workout shirts, Gymshark is a fitness apparel and accessories brand, manufacturer and online retailer based in the UK. Founded in 2012 by then-teenager Ben Francis and a group of his school friends, Gymshark has since evolved from a garage screen-printing operation to a recognisable fitness brand. 

4.5.6 Skin – A skincare line for melanin-rich skin, 4.5.6 Skin’s line ranges from individual products for cleansing, toning and mattifying, to bundled products for specific routines like hydration and pigmentation. Founded in 2019 by Noelly Michoux, a French entrepreneur of Cameroonian descent, 4.5.6 Skin was born out of Noelly’s experience of a lack of skincare products for her skin tone. After incubation at the LVMH Research Centre, 4.5.6 Skin established its own lab and production unit in the Cosmetic Valley in France. The French beautytech startup has since landed around €700K.

Wonderbly – For the little people in your life, we have the perfect gift recommendation – personalized books from Wonderbly. Founded in 2013 and based in London, Wonderbly is an online personalised children’s book company. To order, you just browse their collection of 30+ personalised books, and they’ll put your child right inside the story, making it their own. You add your child’s name, choose their character, and write your heartfelt dedication message and Wonderbly will take care of weaving everything together into a custom book starring your child, print it on high-quality paper and deliver it straight to your front door.

Abiby – This exclusive beauty box subscription service is perfect for pampering your loved ones this holiday season. An Abiby box contains 3 to 5 skincare and makeup products selected from emerging and cutting-edge brands around the world, in both normal and travel sizes. The goal is to let Abiby subscribers discover trending brands before others, and stay ahead of the curve. This Italian startup, based in Milan, was founded in 2018 and has received a €1.5 million seed funding since then.            

kimai – Jewellery is a classic, all-time gifting favourite during the festive season. kimai’s jewellery line is said to be guilt-free, fairly made, no mines involved as they are made from lab-grown diamonds and 18k recycled gold. Their offerings include rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, and engagement rings. Founded in 2018 and having raised around €1.1 million in funding so far, Kimai’s jewellery are made to order and are all manufactured in Antwerp, Belgium.

beducated – If you want to give a unique gift to your partner (or yourself) this holiday season, why not gift online content about mindful sex and relationships? Beducated offers just that as well as educational courses for rethinking sexuality and how it is important to loving and expressing one’s self. This Munich-based startup, founded in 2016 by co-founder couple Mariah Freya and Phil Steinweber, is an edtech portal which aims “Bring more *wow* between the sheets”.

Glossybox – Founded in Berlin in 2011, Glossybox is a purveyor of luxury beauty samples set on a global stage. For a monthly subscription fee, a beautifully wrapped box containing five deluxe-sized beauty products is sent to the subscriber’s doorstep. Glossybox strives to bring to its subscribers trendy brands from around the world. For the holidays, Glossybox issues holiday-themed limited-edition boxes that would be great as a gift for both yourself and your loved ones.

CuureWhat could be a more fitting gift this particuar holiday season than personalized wellness in the form of vitamins and supplement packs from Cuure? This Paris-based nutraceutical startup, founded in 2019, lets you take a five-minute survey to discover your personalized, doctor-approved vitamin and supplement recommendations.
