Madrid-based Playtomic acquires Milan-based PrenotaUnCampo to become Europe’s leading racket sports app

Today Playtomic, Europe’s largest racket sports app for players and clubs, today announced the acquisition of PrenotaUnCampo, an Italy-based leading company in sports reservations in this country. The operation further strengthens the position of Playtomic in this growing market in Europe, showing that COVID-19 has not slowed this sportstech startup down.

Founded in 2017, Playtomic aims to help people practice sports in a more convenient way, reserving a sports facility in just three clicks on the app. The app helps keep sports centres booked up, as well as improves efficiency and the digitalisation of their facilities. Last year the startup expanded to fast-growing markets such as Sweden, Finland, the Benelux and Mexico, and this year acquired sports venue management startup Playven and raised €1.7 million.

Their newest acquisition, PrenotaUnCampo, was founded in 2014 by Nicola Biffi, Alessandro Tortorici, Marco Rossi and Gianpaolo Di Nino, and is the number one online booking platform of sports venues in Italy with more than 1000 bookable sports clubs and more than 360,000 users.

Both companies have taken advantage of the accelerated digitalization process of the industry after Covid-19, achieving the best performance in the history of the platforms in June. As a combined team, they will work together to expand the Playtomic app in Italy, offering the best multi-service platform for clubs, players and organizers. After joining forces, the new company will serve more than 2,000 racket sport clubs and that are now connected in the app, following the tremendous international growth of Padel.

Pedro Clavería, co-CEO and co-founder of Playtomic commented: “We are thrilled to join forces with PrenotaUnCampo. This is a great step forward for us and will allow us to strengthen the uncontested leadership in the racket sports industry. Italy is one of the most active countries, so we are very glad to delight the Italians with the most comprehensive App for racket sports players”.

Nicola Biffi, CEO and co-founder of PrenotaUnCampo said: “This is a great achievement not only for the company, but also for clubs and players. They will have access very soon to the world’s most comprehensive App for racket sports players and management software so the whole Italian industry will take advantage of it”.
