EU-Startups receives backing from 81 investors to strengthen its position as the leading online magazine about startups in Europe

The EU-Startups team is pleased to announce that it has successfully closed its crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs! Launched at the end of 2019, the campaign target of €65K was approached quickly and smashed in just over 3 weeks. After an extra week of overfunding, the campaign was finally closed during December, raising more than €73K from 81 investors.

This was the first (and probably last) fundraising for the EU-Startups team, having been completely bootstrapped up until now. As the leading online magazine with a focus on startups in Europe, the publication has grown to have over 250K visits per month, over 70K social media followers, 44K newsletter subscribers and over 1.5K attendees at the annual EU-Startups Summit.

The EU-Startups team will use the fresh capital to continue to further improve and grow EU-Startups.com, as a leading resource to get inspired and informed about startups, tech and entrepreneurship in Europe. The plan is to hit at least 1 million monthly visits within the next 3 years, and continue to share the good (and bad) things happening in the European tech and startup ecosystem.

Going even further than sharing news, EU-Startups aims to help forge valuable connections – in person! – between founders, investors and corporates at our events. The 7th edition of our EU-Startups Summit will be held on 28-29 May 2020, in sunny Barcelona, and will connect you with 1,500 founders, startup enthusiasts, corporates, angel investors, VCs, and media), as well as 70+ expert speakers. With a whole host of workshops, keynotes and panels related to trending topics like social enterprise, e-mobility, AI and diversity, plus names on board like Oscar Pierre, CEO of Glovo, Vasco Pedro, CEO of Unbabel, (and many more) it’s certain that the event will continue to grow and create impact for you, the attendees.

In fact, the growth plan for the EU-Startups Summit is to gather 1,500+ attendees in 2020, 2,200 in 2021, 3,000 in 2022, and 4,200+ in 2023. The EU-Startups team wants the event to continue to be a place that lets people talk, connect and make valuable connections, that will turn into inspiration for new products, fruitful partnerships, new team members, and funding rounds.

The EU-Startups team chose Seedrs as the platform to run its crowdfunding campaign for a few reasons. Seedrs, founded in 2009, is Europe’ss leading equity crowdfunding platform, and is the most active funder of private companies in the UK. The simplicity of its interface, documentation support and customer services meant that it was the chosen platform.
